**UPDATE ABOUT RACHEL BELOW**

THIS MINISTRY, AND THE CHRISTIAN POEMS AND LINKS THAT FOLLOW, ARE DEDICATED TO GOD AND MY DAUGHTER, WHOM I HAVE NOT SEEN SINCE SHE WAS TWO, AND TO MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

NOTE: All poems that appear on this web site were composed by me and contain my name and the copyright symbol,  and all poems on any page originating from me that I have linked to it were witten by me and contain the copyright symbol and my name . These poems may be used freely to bless those you love and witness to, but when used, MUST also include the copyright symbol and my name, for obvious reasons. The poems may not be used for profit in any way without my consent. That consent may only be given in writing by me! May God bless you as you read on.  Jay  L. Zumbrum :o)

Before you read my poems, please meet some very special people who have touched my life deeply for the Lord in the last few years and in recent months, and who have, and continue to, encourage me to take my ministry into a much more public phase. There are many, many more, far too numerous to mention here. To all of you, I love you very much and could never thank you enough for what you have done for me. To God be the glory, for you have helped this wounded man grow in faith and trust and you all know who you are.

The Poems2God Ministry has recently been blessed with the opportunity to bring to the readers of the Christian Fellowship Messenger magazine works of poetry. I have been given space in the magazine to do a Christian Poet's Corner in every issue beginning in January, 2001. In this space in each issue I will present one of my poems along with a brief explanation of how I came to compose the poem. For a copy of the text of my introductory page just e-mail me at Poems2God@aol.com and ask for that text.

To learn more about Christian Fellowship Messenger you may visit their web page at www.geocities.com/cfmessenger on the internet. Christian Fellowship Messenger (CMF) offers advertising at more than reasonable rates and contains articles on many areas of ministry including articles for children, music, prison ministry, Christian poetry, women's ministry and much more.To subscribe to, or place an ad in Christian Fellowship Messenger you may call 410-658- 3952 or fax at 410-658-9358. You may also e-mail the editor, Matt Compton, at mattcompton@dol.net or snail mail at: Christian Fellowship Messenger, P.O. Box 924, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Matt is quickly becoming a major force for the Lord in my life as he and the others help me take my poems to the world. Matt also is part of a Southern Gospel Quartet known as John 3:3 Ministry based in Rising Sun, MD and is available to appear at churches and events for a love offering.

Please meet two very special people that God bought into my life in a very positive way. I met Jay and Elizabeth Roberts while dining out in late 1999. They were in this area appearing at a local church with their very powerful message and original music. Since that time they have become very dear friends and even though they live in VA and I in PA, they were the people that most influenced me to return to Church and every time they get any where near my area I make sure I get to see them for fellowship so they can love on me a bit. They were also the people that pried the door open for me to write in Christian Fellowship Mesenger. Needless to say, in the short time I have known them (not so short anymore) they have been a powerful force for God in my life. To contact Jay & Elizabeth to have them minister at your church or to order their Tape or CD "The Next Step" you may call them at 1-888-238-5939 or e-mail them at TRVLN4LJC@aol.com. Jay is staff evangelist at Calvary Fellowship of Amherst County in VA. You can also snail mail them at:

Jay & Elizabeth Roberts, 141 Odins Bow Drive, Madison Heights, VA 24572

Also, please meet Dave and Cathy Consolloy, proprietors of The Lighthouse Caffe in Penns Grove, NJ. I met both Dave and Cathy on AOL while they were still getting to know each other as their on-line friendship blossomed into a coast to coast courtship. I actually met Dave in person before Cathy did as I traveled to just outside of Philadelphia to meet Dave and receive ministry from him and share a few of my poems with him. You can believe that I got the tenth degree from Cathy after I returned home from that meeting about Dave. I must have sold Dave pretty well as they have now been married several years. :o) Actually, God brought these two very dear people together and I am thankful for the ministry they have brought to me with their love and encouragement as I faced trial after trial over the last few years. To contact the Revs. David & Cathy Consolloy for directions to their facility in NJ, The Lighthouse Caffe at 1 W. Main St., Penns Grove, NJ 08069-1345 (their caffe is well laid out and comfy, pics available for the asking, I have been there since they opened) or to get info on counseling or attending one of the seminars they from time to time present you may contact them by calling 856-299-6400 (ans mach) or 856-299-6646 (M-F, 8 - 2 PM), by e-mail at jcsavvy@netzero.net or by snail mail at Revs. Dave & Cathy Consolloy, P.O. Box 97, Penns Grove, NJ 08069. They are closed on Fridays (for now) because they teach at Mission Teens. Music, poetry, drama, art, etc., is usually available on Saturdays, from 7 - 9 PM

The first two poems on this page were written for my daughter. You may skip them and scroll to the third poem, "MERCY" where my Poems to God begin. I have left the poems I wrote for Rachel here in case she ever finds these pages. I want her to know I still love her and am sorry for the mistakes I have made.

The poem below. "To A Daughter" was sent to Rachel for her 15th birthday in 1996, but she never replied. To understand what caused us to be apart for so many years, please request my full length testimony via e-mail. Or you may use the Hypertext link below to read the condensed version, which does not give detail, but will give you an idea of what happened.

**UPDATE**

On April 7th, 1999, after almost 16 years, my daughter called me at my home and told me she wants to meet me and get to know me. To all of you who have prayed for her and for this to happen, I just want you to know that she is saved and loves the Lord. I learned this from her and from her grandmother, whom God has also allowed me to reestablish contact with.

After her first call I sent her a large Teddy Bear and a poem that goes
with the bear. The text of that poem is below the poem that I sent her
for her 15th birthday.
After her first call she called two more times. The last call went very
badly as I could not tell her what she wanted to hear, but had to tell
her what she needed to hear. I have gone over our last conversation
in my head and now realize I have made one mistake in the things she
asked me about. It was an event that occurred many years ago, and I did
not remember what actually happened at that time. She was right and I
was wrong, I am attempting to clarify that information and to
try to pass the truth on to her through the channels! :o) She has decided
not to call again, and I understand her decision. Just know this Rachel.
I love you, always have, always will, and you and your family will remain
in my prayers. I am sorry for my mistake the last time you called, I am
sending you a letter to explain.

All My Love,
Your Father,
Jay

Again, thank you to all whom have crossed these pages and prayed,

In His Name

Jay

TO A DAUGHTER

There is a man, far away
Who loves you more than words can say
One who thinks of you a lot
And sometimes feels he should be shot!

A man who ran, from too much pain
Who did not know how to remain
And wonders now, what went wrong
Who wants to write a brand new song!

The years have passed, time gone by
So many tears, from my eyes
So many things that I should do
Just know this Rachel, I love you!

So to this daughter, whom I love
A gift to me, from God above
With many things I'd love to say
I'll just say this, Happy Birthday!

All my love,
Jay

A BEARY SPECIAL MESSAGE

Many years ago, in time now far away
A Teddy Bear with love, had many words to say
This Teddy Bear dear Rachel, I could not give to you
But I must tell you this, it's every word is true!

I am the Teddy Bear, from your father with his love
And he has prayed for you, to his Father high above
I am the Teddy Bear, he never got to give
But you must know sweet child, in his heart you have lived!

He sends me now to you, to show you of his care
And if you have a doubt, hug me, it is there
He sends me to you now, with tears of joy and pain
The love he has for you, forever will remain!

He loves you more than life, but this you could not know
He has an awesome love, that he could never show
He sends me to you now, to hold close to your heart
And is so very sorry, for all the years apart!

I LOVE YOU RACHEL
YOUR FATHER
JAY

Psalm 106:1 PRAISE YE the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.

MERCY

Standing on the shore, of the Mercy sea
Waves of living water, flowing over me
I fall down to my knees, and lift up Holy Hands
For God is moving mightily, through my desert sands!

By crystal shining water, arid bones are splashed
Pain, remorse and all anger, now are being smashed
The waves will not relent, rushing to the shore
And I am overwhelmed by mercy ten times more!

And now my heart is weeping, primed by mercy sea
There is an awesome power, moving now through me
And from my knees I fall, prone, onto my face
As I look up and realize, My Lord is in this place!

I'm weeping like a baby, as he gently takes my hand
And pulls my now washed body, up from cool sweet sand
And then I understand all that I must do
I must take this mercy, and pass it on to you!

FELLOWSHIP

Jesus is a shining star
To every Christian, near and far
The common bond for one and all
For each of us who hear the call!

Regardless of denomination
Or town or state or even nation
His love is light, and is quite pure
His fellowship, always sure!

So if you're here, and are a Christian
I would surely love to listen
To thoughts within your heart, anew
Of what sweet Jesus did for you!

THE BATTLE

My mind is a raging fire, I'm convicted in my heart
I long to be a Christian Lord, but know not where to start
I hear my Savior knocking, he's standing at the door
And all the earthly worldly things aren't important anymore!

I make the great decision, I fall down on my knees
And ask my Lord to save me, enter my heart I plead
And I know that at that moment, my sin is cast away
I'm now a newborn child, a tender Christian babe!

The news spreads fast, and soon I learn, the enemy has heard
His plan is to attack, before I know the Word
For with the Word I have in me the Holy Spirit's power
He knows he must attack at once, he cannot wait an hour!

He gathers together all his demons and sets his battle plans
He must destroy this new child's faith, it must blow as drifting sands
The planning takes just minutes, they empty all the files
And then his army moves, armed with many trials!

The attack is fast and furious, and for awhile I stumble
But in the end, I am quite sure, it is Satan who will bumble
I'm hit with many problems, they're coming by the score
And as my faith begins to slip, I fall down to the floor!

Satan now is laughing, he jumps around in glee
And then the smile fades from his face, as I struggle to one knee
He stares unto the battlefield, his face is filled with terror
With all the files they had on me, could he have made an error?

I'm beaten, battered, on one knee, as my lips begin to move
Satan is screaming at the top of his lungs, "What's he trying to prove?"
He sends out queries to the demons, "What is that he's saying?"
The answer comes like a shot in the night, "Oh Lucifer, he's praying!"

My strength ebbs back, and as I struggle, I gain the other knee
And when the demons see this, they turn from me and flee
Satan screams, "Stand and fight, he's only just a man!"
The answer comes loud and clear, "A man in the Savior's hand!"

The battle now is over, my faith as strong as steel
And in my heart, I know full well, the Lord Jesus is for real
For as I lay on the ground that day, something gently lifted me
Without that gentle lifting, I'd never have gained my knees!

The moral of this poem, is really very clear
Just call on the name of Jesus, when you're facing fear
For when you call on Jesus, Satan hasn't got a chance
The power that he thinks he has is fictional romance!

I am so blessed to have been given this poem from the Lord. It came to me at a time in my life when I hurt so much I could barely make myself eat or even move. It is my sincere prayer that you will use this faithfully to bless those the enemy would try to slay. Use it wisely, my dearest friend, in the Lord, for it was a gift of the Almighty God to a man so badly beaten I almost did not want to live.

TO MY FATHER

On this earth I've had no father
There was no time, no one to bother
No one to love, no one to care
No one with whom a day to share!

No support, nor any guidance
Only me, and self reliance
What a mess of life I've made
Just as well to see the grave!

Then words I heard, love to share
There is someone whom will care
He gave his son so I could live
What a gift he chose to give!

So on this day, to this Father
To one whom has the time to bother
I lift my hands in praise, it's true
"Hey there Dad, I love you!"

The Vase

I came upon a vase, upon it was my name
The vase, before, had fallen, and would never be the same
In many, many pieces, the vase before had been
Each and every one, a broken wicked sin!

And then a man named Jesus, came upon the vase
And when he saw the pieces, a smile lit up his face
One by one he took them, and made them almost new
And what held them together was not a man made glue

What held them all together, was Jesus and his light
Shining through the cracks, into the darkest night
Within the vase, he placed a piece, the one that was my heart
And said to me, with all his Love, I never shall depart!

Jesus speaking

Be patient my child, for my love is real
I know the pain and heartache you feel
I've felt pain myself, in the garden, you see
So the pain that you feel is not new to me!

My grace is sufficient, you're never alone
Just call on me, I'm always at home
The number to dial is simple you see
Just dial this number, B-I-B-L-E! :)

JESUS GOES TO CHURCH

Jesus came to church, dressed in rags today
No one recognized him, they told him "Go away"
They were oh, so worried, of what the town might wonder
And in anxiety and fear, they pulled their biggest blunder!

"Hide this man in the back, and pray the guests won't see"
"Jesus, Jesus", they called out, "Lord, hear our plea"
"The millionaire from town is here, and now this bum is too"
"Help us, help us, help us Lord, what ever shall we do?"

And as they led sweet Jesus, by the hand, way to the back
I saw a tear fall from his eye, for those now off the track
He came to search the hearts, you see, of those now in the pews
And in his heart he wept aloud, at how they spread "GOOD NEWS"!

No one said a word to Jesus, not one, all day long
They gathered round the millionaire, and helped him learn a song
And as they sang and raised their hands, praising King and Lord
Jesus sat there crying, at how he'd been ignored!

JESUS GOES TO CHURCH II

Jesus came to church, dressed in rags today
It was a year ago, that he had passed this way
A year ago they shunned him, sat him in the back
And sitting there, he'd wept, at Satan's cruel attack!

The millionaire had danced, as he sang a song
But in his broken heart, he knew something was wrong
From the corner of his eye, hidden in the rear
He saw a poor, poor man, letting out a tear!

The millionaire was wounded, and soon made a decision
Within his heart he felt the pull, of a Godly vision
He looked again, to the rear, the poor, poor man had vanished
But in his heart, he now knew, the poor shall not be banished!

As Jesus came into the church, dressed in rags today
No one said within their heart, "You must go away"
By his hand they took him, and led him up the aisle
The millionaire jumped up, glowing with a smile!

I thought that I had lost you, for you have changed my life
Here, please meet my daughter, and this, this is my wife
Do you have a place to sleep, have you food to eat?
Won't you sit here with us, may we wash your feet?

This church now had a vision, reaching one and all
And yes, even the poorest, would surely hear the call
And as they entered service, and praise and worship grew
They looked into each others eyes, and both of them, they knew!

And suddenly the joy and love brought them to their feet
Hand in hand they danced, the vision now complete
And as they turned toward the back, weeping with a smile
They saw the poor, and those whom loved them, dancing in the aisles!

THE PRAYER WARRIORS ANTHEM

The battle drums are sounding, I'm being called to war
Within my hands I have the word, and I will run no more
I see my army marching, thousands on the way
Each and every one, armed with prayers to pray!

The drummers beating harder, the trumpets sounding loud
And overhead is Jesus, falling from a cloud
My body shakes and shudders, at next the sight I see
There are a million angels, marching now with me!

Several thousand warriors, angels shore to shore
The ground is heaving, shaking, as we move to war
The battle charge is sounded, from Jesus' glowing face
And not one demon dares to stand upon this Holy Place!

The cannon shells are falling, prayers now fill the air
And I am moved to tears, by all of those who care
And now the battle dies, there's peace upon my land
As Jesus reaches out, and gently shakes my hand!

UP AND AT EM!!!!

Up and at em, praising God
On this trial, I will trod
Serving Jesus all day long
I will bless with poem's song!

Enemy, long defeated
All his tricks are depleted
And I am standing, full of joy
Whompin on that devil boy!

Elijah

Elijah said unto the Lord, "My Lord, your will be done"
And shortly after that, Elijah turned to run
Then the Lord came to Elijah, as he hid in fear
The Lord looked at him quizzically, "What are you doing here?"

Elijah said, "I'm just a man, I've done all I can do"
The Lord said, "Geeze Elijah, I have some more for you"
Elijah said, "I'll do it Lord, I'll race right to the wire"
And that is how Elijah rode a chariot of fire!

When you fight, can't you please make a peace somehow?

THE LAMB

The Father said unto the Lamb
"A servant you must be"
The Lamb responded, "Yes, I know"
"Some day they will kill me!"

The Father said unto the Lamb
"This pain you'll surely bare"
The Lamb responded, "Yes, I will"
"Because I know you care!"

The Father said unto the Lamb
"You'll never be alone"
The Lamb responded, "Yes, it's true"
"I'll long to be back home!"

The Father said unto the Lamb
"You'll be back soon enough"
The Lamb responded, "Yes, I know"
"To go will sure be tough!"

"So go now Lamb", the Father said
"There is so much to do"
The Lamb responded, "Yes, I will"
"Because I love them too!"

A WALK THROUGH LIFE

I took a walk through life today
To see what life had to say
The highways, byways, country lanes
Along these roads I see such pain!

And to myself, I wonder why
I cannot float into the sky
For from this pain, I want to run
Then I remember God's own Son!

I feel the pain he felt that day
Rejection, loss, so far away
The ones he'd loved, they turn, they flee
As he goes on to Calvary

Yes, through this life he chose to go
And as this man I come to know
I understand the pain I feel
And know that his was much more real!

Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (NIV)

The Touch

Touch the one, with wounded soul
With no vision, nor a goal
Touch the one, with broken heart
In that life, play a part!

Help me Lord, lead them to you
Let you're light, in me be true
For I have felt, your healing hand
Touch my heart, in this land!

In this broken, wounded child
May your spirit, run quite wild
Yes, I have seen you, love so much
Sic em, Father, with THE TOUCH!

BEHOLD, MY NAME IS JESUS

Behold, my name is Jesus, I gave my life for you
I'm standing at your door, with words forever true
There is a place called Heaven, in which you can reside
A place of peace and mercy, and I'll be by your side!

Behold, my name is Jesus, to earth I shall return
And on that day, for all who mocked, the time shall come to burn
For all of those whom cheat and steal, my words they do ignore
Yes, they'll look up and plead with tears, "We want our lives no more!"

Behold, my name is Jesus, there's love here in my hand
There is a better life, to live within this land
Your sin is like a cancer, eating at your heart
And though you cannot see it, it rips your life apart!

Behold, my name is Jesus, and mercy fills my being
I know what brought you to your knees, I know what you are fleeing
I'm standing here with open arms, I'll heal your every wound
And when I return to this, my earth, you shall not be doomed!

Behold, my name is Jesus, walk with me awhile
And I will take your broken heart, and teach it how to smile
How much do we, in Heaven care, you called, the devil pouted
And up here where I now reside, a gazillion angels shouted!

A gazillion is too many to count! :o)

I WILL DANCE TODAY

They tell me David danced, though he was a king
They tell me David sang, as loud as he could sing
When Pharaoh's mighty army, perished in the sea
Miriam took a tambourine, and danced, my Lord, for thee!

And when the wayward son, lost within his sin
Came trudging wearily home, his father took him in
He slew the fattened calf, a feast that some would envy
Within the house there was much joy, they danced, not one, but many!

So when they tell me Jesus, I should be restrained
And I feel this awesome tugging, pulling on my brain
I'll warn them very quickly, you must clear the way
The Holy Ghost has hit me, and I will dance today!
