The Force

The Force is a mystical energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together. The Force is inside us and in the air. Midi-chlorians are microscopic life forms that exist inside the cells of all living things including people. They are as much part of us as we are a part of them, and neither can exist without the other. Midi-chlorians themselves, however, are not the Force. I repeat midi-chlorians are not the Force. They are only our link to the force. If an individual has enough of these midi-chlorians in their bodies they can communicate, though the midi-chlorians, with the Force. So in essence midi-chlorians are the connection between our minds and the force. When a person is connected to the force they can see things before they happen, look into the past, communicate with others far away, or even talk with the dead. They can even control and move themselves and objects in their environment by actually manipulating the Force. Anything is possible by one who can manipulate the Force. So the Force can actually obey your commands, but it also controls your actions. A person and the Force work together as allies.

The Force is rooted in the balance of all things, and every movement within it's flow risks an upsetting of that balance. A Jedi must move to the flow of the Force. This can be difficult because the Force exists many planes, and a Jedi must be in touch will all planes to obey the will of the Force. Two of those planes are the living Force and the unifying Force. The living Force represents all living things alive right now. The unifying Force is everything that lives in the past and future. A Jedi must try to stay tuned to both if they are to know he true will of the Force.

A person with a high amount of midi-chlorians in them can become a Jedi. The Jedi have learned how to quiet their minds and focus so they can hear the midi-chlorians inside of them and use the force. This makes the Jedi extraordinary warriors because they can see into the future so they can tell how and when an enemy will attack. The Jedi can also see into the future when piloting or other tasks to avoid danger or accomplish almost impossible feats. Also they can move and manipulate things in their environment to help them fight or perform tasks. Jedi can also use a forced communication on others to control their minds.

The amount of midi-chlorians in a person is a genetic trait, it can be inherited. The Jedi look for people with large amount of midi-chlorians in their bodies, and then train the to become Jedi. The amount of midi-chlorians can be determined by a simple blood test, and often Jedi candidates are found in children of Jedi. They are also found by looking for particularly lucky, psychic, or physically gifted people with lightning reflexes.

The Force, like life, has a dark side. It is a domain of what we consider evil, a place of anger, fear, and aggression. While a Jedi use the opposite side of the force, the light side, for knowledge and defense, others use the dark side as their source of power. The dark side is quicker and easier to master, but it does have a downside. It consumes you and controls your actions. Once you start down the dark path forever will it dominate your destiny.
