Current Feature:
A Woman
How is it a demon can find love? I welcomed the
vampires kiss so long ago. I killed without mercy or
regret. I savored the fear in my prey.
For two centuries I killed, and fed.
Never once did I feel remorse. I enjoyed the hunt.
But now I have found my beloved. A heart that was
dead is beating in me once again. Now I am haunted by
demons.......as I was once was. I shed tears I thought
I never could. For I can never be human again, and I
cannot damn my beloved to live as I do. I will exorcise
my demons in the first morning light I have seen in
over 200 years. May they, and my beloved
forgive me.

Shadow In The Window
Outside the window
Late at night
Deep in the shadows
But not beyond sight
Illuminated by,
The moon, pale, bright
Stands a figure.
Elegant, graceful,
Tall and fair
With hypnotic eyes
And black shroud of hair.
Inviting, beckoning,
me to his lair.
Whispers my name.
Hollow eyes burning
Murky, dense.
The figure fades.
Nothing but silence
Intense and deafening.
My body tense,
I am afraid.
He's still here. I feel
His hunger.
Chills run down my spine
Heart beats like thunder.
What is this creature that lurks, I wonder?
Pleasure and pain.
The form reappears
Near my bed.
Lord of the Darkness
He rules the Undead,
nourished by blood, fear, pain.
With lips cruel, red,
Stands above me.
Descends upon my
throat. Beaming.
Foul breath in my face
Sharp, white teeth gleaming.
Three drops of blood fall, slip
away, streaming.
Warm crimson tears.
Try to resist, but
Paralyzed.
Cannot fight this thing
so strong, so despised.
Defenseless. No one comes,
Or hears my cries.
I fight alone.
The task is finished.
Hesitates.
Then, rising once more
With empty eyes, takes
One long, last look. Silent,
He dissipates.
He is Vampyr.

In his story "Carmilla", author Sheridan Le Fanu assigned a unique characteristic to vampires: they must choose a name that, "if not his or her real one, should at least reproduce, without the omission or addition of a single letter, those, as we say, anagrammatically, which compose it." Carmilla was originally named Millarca and was also known as Mircalla. This characteristic was unique to Le Fanu's vampire.
Although others have not employed Le Fanu's stipulation concerning the vampire's name, noted in sequels to Dracula, the leading character frequently called himself Count (or Dr. or Mr.) "Alucard", Dracula's name spelled backward, such as in Son of Dracula (1943). Other variations of Dracula included Dr. Aluca, or , in the Dell Dracula comic book, Al U. Card.

Back in high school, I did an essay on vampires, and I must apologize if it seems hastily written. It was! I had a terrible habit of procrastinating until the night before....
Anyway, here it is! Essay:The Sexual Motivation...
Quite some time ago, I came across an article in the Washington Post that was rather interesting, and I've added it here: Article: Macabre medicine
Swaying branch, a goblin's hand
Scudding clouds, a ghostly band
Jack-o'-lanterns glint and glower
Midnight is the witching hour.
Halloween is my favourite occasion, and always has been, and not just because of all the free candy I got from trick-or-treating!
The rich history of this time of year involves more than just dressing up. Find out about the meaning behind the name at any of these links:

and I just *had* to add this:

I have finally completed a separate Halloween page: HALLOWEEN: Costumes, Parties.. although there are still some links etc... on the bottom of this page.
Once a week, I will post a poem, with credit to the author, that is related to either vampires, or Halloween, or both.
Submit by emailing: raven2dove@aol.com .
Poems should be no longer than 30 lines (approx.).
Please tell me: What is the coolest thing you (or someone you know) have dressed up as for Halloween? raven2dove@aol.com
