The Street Line Project

The Carline Project is a part of the larger Streetline project, of Dublin, Ireland. We will build upon the 10 year success of the Streetline Project, which was founded in 1987 to combat the increasing problem of homelessness among young people between the ages of 10 to 16 years of age in the Dublin City area. Many of the lessons learned in the development and on-going management of the Streetline Project are being applied to the Carline Project.

The successful role the Streetline Project has played in helping the young people of Dublin was and continues to be six-fold:

1.) To heighten the awareness of homeless children with political and other relevant agencies working in this area;

2.) provide residential community housing which offer care and resources to young people on a long term basis;

3.) these houses, staffed with trained, professional child care workers cater for 10 young homeless people at a time;

4.) residents follow rules and participate in Education and training skills as well as sports;

5.) residents participate in the day to day running of the facility; and the facility is self-sufficient.
