Looking up Hyde Street from the wharf

We spent a delightful but busy week in San Francisco with Julie. We were so happy that she chose to spend her Spring Break with us while her husband Glen was in school at Flight Safety in Dallas. We picked her up at the airport on Saturday, then began our sightseeing tour of the beautiful and historic City on the Bay.

We took this picture the first afternoon after she arrived. We went on a walking tour of Fisherman's Wharf. Here we are at Hyde Pier, looking up the Hyde Street hill.

As you can see, the weather looks a little cool and somewhat windy. But the sun was shining almost every day, so we didn't mind the wind.

Our RV Park was in Pacifica, California, which was very, very windy most of the time. The park situated on the Pacific Ocean, on Highway 1. We took one day out to explore Highway 1, which included seeing two lighthouses as well as breathtaking views of the Pacific coastline. We ate our lunch on a picnic table next to the rocks you see below.

One of the most fun things we stopped to see were the native California artichokes growing by the side of the road. We were SOOO tempted to pick one - but we didn't, we stopped by the market and bought them for $1 apiece.

One of our favorite side trips was the 20-minute ferryboat ride to Alcatraz Island, where we were able to tour the cellblocks.

We have spent two months in California and still haven't seen everything! What a beautiful state!
