The RAMBO FAMILY TREE by Beverly Nelson Rambo 26 May 2006. 2nd edition, final pre-publication draft by Ron Beatty http://members.aol.com/RamboBook RAMBO30.TXT is the name of this file. It covers only one generation of Rambos. This is not a web page. It is ASCII, one of 50 Rambo text files. If you view this file in a web browser (like Internet Explorer), the text runs off the right edge of the screen (and you cannot specify "word wrap"). You will need to save this file to disk and use any word processor to view it. If you find one ancestor, but have trouble finding earlier ancestors, read the "Introduction" web page. The file APPENDIX.TXT explains the numbering system. Notice that each earlier generation has one less digit in the number. If a family had more than nine children, the tenth child is numbered "A," the eleventh "B," and so on. The web site contains much more information about Rambos, genealogy, and the forthcoming book. Check the "Introduction" page there first and proceed as appropriate. Generally you will find no mention of living persons on the web or in the book. If you do want to see your name in print or on the web, you must send me an explicit request. All Rambo descendants, regardless of surname, are encouraged to send their ancestry for inclusion in the third edition of the book. Contact rsbeatty@gmail.com, but be patient as my e-mail is neglected for months at a time. If you knew the amount of work involved in this effort and the number of correspondants you'd understand. (My personality defects exacerbate the problem.) The file ENDNOTES.TXT contains the list of references. Within the paragraphs about your ancestor, you may see numbers enclosed in parenthesis, such as this: (589) or this: (589),, p. 32) These numbers correlate to a reference number in the file ENDNOTES.TXT. See the web page "Introduction" for an explanation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHAPTER 9: 8th GENERATION DESCENDANTS The children of the 8th generation were born during a period of more than 140 years, from George Rambo born in 1801, to Harriet Mattson Hillgen's son, Donald who was born in 1945. "George Rambo was born February 1st, 1801, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and died December 24, 1879. He was one of the pioneers of Newton Township. He emigrated to Ohio in October, 1804, and was a resident of Newton Township, 1805. He was married to Elizabeth Sweeney, December, 27th, 1821 with whom he lived nearly 38 years. He was married the second time to Widow Rankin, In June 1862. He was a farmer by occupation and lived on the farm he died on since 1821. He was the father of eight children, six of whom survive him. He had fifty grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Luthern Church for twenty-one years. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Hunton, who preached an able and eloquent sermon, enumerating the many christian virtues of the deceased in an affecting manner. He was a good citizen and a kind neighbor. He was a life long Democrat, casting his first vote for General Jackson. Thus has past away from earth another of the pioneers who was identified with rise and progress of our country, whose history may be told in these few words. They lived amid scenes that darkened hopes and marked the path that leads to future greatness and prosperity. Signed (A Friend)") 1121122.
