WHY CHOOSE THE PGHA?

Although our name suggests we are an organization exclusive to Philadelphia, that is simply not the case. The PGHA is responsible for investigating haunting activity in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware and Eastern Pennsylvania. Below, we have listed some facts that you need to consider before having just anyone come to your home or business to investigate:

Cost -- The PGHA has made it a point not to charge a fee for any investigation. Other than providing us with a mutually convenient time to conduct an investigation, you are not responsible for anything. We do not believe in having the hidden charges for travel, lodging and food that many other organizations are guilty of. On the contrary, we have long considered it a privilege that kind people like you would allow us an opportunity to continue our research.

Discreet -- The reports, photographs and recordings you have seen on our website are publicly presented with the permission of the parties involved. We would never publicize your investigation unless given the permission to do so. We truly respect your individual privacy, as well as that of your family or business.

Reports -- The PGHA is the first local organization to provide investigation reports, free of charge, to hosts of any research location. We will also share photographic, audio and video recorded evidence with you as well.

Education -- The PGHA prides itself on being the first local group of investigators to offer education to individuals experiencing spirit phenomena. We will help you to better understand your situation and address any concerns you may have.

Teachers -- The PGHA President and Cofounder, Lewis Gerew, has an extensive history of teaching others. He has taught the "how to's" of researching and investigating the spirit realm and haunting phenomena to other local group leaders and investigators who have sought out his knowledge. Also teaching about equipment, Lew has given lectures at local colleges and libraries, as well as ghost workshops held by the invitation of other groups such as the Pennsylvania Ghost Hunters Society. He has also conducted online consultations with many people from around the world.

Experience -- The PGHA is the oldest local organization specific to Philadelphia, conducting research in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. We now are comprised of hand selected, mature investigators, each with much experience in the field of ghost research. Well disciplined in spirit research, our investigators are strictly professional.

Equipment -- The PGHA currently boasts one of the widest arrays of the most modern equipment used for spirit detection and documentation. Our investigators have invested literally thousands of dollars for the devices they use. Our equipment, coupled with our experience, has made us the most advanced organization of it's kind in the Delaware Valley.

Approach -- The paranormal consists of a wide spectrum of beliefs. Those beliefs have influenced many organizations to follow different paths for an explanation to paranormal events. The PGHA has made it commonplace to accept and acknowledge all possibilities for providing an explanation. We, as a research organization, refuse to accept any one possibility as an absolute. To not limit ourselves, we deem it necessary to not exclude any one aspect of spirit phenomena. In this respect, we have led the way for many other organizations.

Religion -- Dealing with spirit phenomena often brings religion into the forefront. Many organizations have formed with religion as their motive and main driving force. Some of the more cult-like groups have been radical enough to protest at local seminars in light of their beliefs. Their tactics to gain access for investigations seemingly borders upon preying on people's fears, whereas the PGHA's goal is to alleviate them. The PGHA will never influence upon anyone the religious beliefs of any member or Cofounder. On the contrary, our approach is scientific, rather than religious.

Respect -- The PGHA is a highly regarded organization. We are proud members of the International Ghost Hunters Society and the Pennsylvania Ghost Hunters Society. The PGHA Cofounders, as well as some active members, are Inner Circle Award winners. The Inner Circle Award is given by the International Ghost Hunters Society to investigators who demonstrate their abilities in spirit research and documentation. It also inducts us into an elite class of worldwide investigators/researchers. PGHA Cofounders, Lew & Sharon Gerew are also the proud recipients of the Pennsylvania Ghost Hunters Society Member of the Year Award for 1997.

Interviews -- It is commonplace for paranormal research organizations to conduct interviews with the parties experiencing spirit phenomena. Of the many organizations we are aware of, all have routinely conducted interviews before an investigation ever begins. In fear of a before-hand interview influencing the outcome of an investigation, and in keeping with a more scientific approach, we have chosen to conduct interviews after investigations.

References -- As we have suggested above, don't invite just anyone to investigate your home or business. For your own security and safety, be sure to ask for a list of references from any group you may be considering. We highly recommend that the list include both private and business locations the group has investigated. Don't stop there, contact each and every one of them. Make sure you know who you are dealing with before you actually meet them. The PGHA will provide a complete list of references upon your request. Lastly, there are many subdivisions of senior organizations in operation. Be sure to research any group's senior organization before contacting anyone. In doing so, you may reveal any hidden agenda of a subordinate organization. After you have done your research, ask yourself of their website, "are they being honest with me?" If you are comfortable with your answer, feel free to contact them.
