Eastern State Penitentiary EVP (2001)
The following EVP's were obtained at Eastern State Penitentiary.


This first one was obtained by Sharon during a PGHA investigation of the prison. After seeing a figure walk by Cell Block 2 and hearing something loud being dropped in the area, they (Sharon and Rachel) decided to try for some EVP. However, it was a bit windy outside on this night so Sharon took a test recording to see if the wind would interfere. It did not. All was quiet on the recording. Except, however, for the following voice which was picked up during this recording session. We believe it say's "It's OK now".

This EVP was obtained by PGHA member Toni in the Administration Building at ESP. She asks: "In what year did you come here?" In response we hear: "76".

This one was also obtained by Toni but this time in Death Row. Andy can be heard asking: "Can you tell us your name?" In response we hear: "No".

Miscellaneous EVP
As of now, we must keep the location of this EVP confidential.

This pertains to 'Confidential 2'. Lew obtained this EVP during an investigation at a location which we cannot tell you about. In this recording, you will first hear Andy ask from a distance, "Are you married". You will then hear Lew ask the same question closer to the recorder. Following Lew, is when you want to start listening for a response, which shouldn't be hard. On this investigation, and during this particular recording, Andy was in one room and Lew in another (and on separate floors). Both had their recorders recording. The purpose was for Andy to ask a question first, and loud enough for Lew's recorder to hear, Lew was to ask the same question after Andy. This is why you hear them both asking the same question.
* SPECIAL NOTE: Lew was in the basement with a female investigator and our female host when he obtained this. He was the only male on the floor. The EVP is clearly a mans voice but it isn't Lew's.

Bolton Mansion
The following series of EVP were obtained by PGHA member Andy K. during our recent overnight investigation (8/28/99) of the Bolton Mansion. Andy used a digital recorder.

Confederate Cemetery
This EVP was captured via digital recorder by PGHA member Andy K. Although this was not an official PGHA investigation, this is what Andy had to say; "The 'David' EVP was recorded on July 31st [1999] in the Confederate Cemetery near Carnton Mansion in Franklin, Tennessee. The cemetery is the final resting place for 1500 soldiers killed in the Battle of Franklin fought on November 30, 1864 - A confederate defeat. I was the only one in that part of the cemetery when the recording was made. Carnton Mansion was behind the lines during the battle and was used as a hospital."

Inn at Jim Thorpe
This EVP was obtained during our Jim Thorpe investigation. In one of the rooms on the second floor, Andy and Sharon stood discussing  whether or not the room next door was adjoined to the one they were in. Unsure of this fact they decided to leave to go check it out. As soon as they stepped out of the room you can hear a man's voice say "No, don't leave". EVP captured by PGHA member Andy K.

1720 Farmhouse
The following EVP was obtained in the attic of the 1720 Farmhouse near Warrington, PA. by PGHA member Andy K. This investigation took place on Thursday, August 19, 1999. The EVP is the sound of heavy breathing almost directly into the microphone.

The Wheatfield
This EVP was captured by PGHA President and Cofounder Lewis Gerew at the Wheatfield in Gettysburg, PA. While using his digital recorder, which is voice activated, he captured this entire phrase: "Take the guns out of the hands of the enemy". This EVP is exceptionally clear as compared to what would be considered the norm. Special Note: The word 'guns' was typically not used during the Civil War in reference to pistols or muskets. 'Guns' was usually used in reference to the cannons. It was not uncommon for a brigade to over-run another and turn their own weapons against them.

Gettysburg Woods
The following EVP was obtained by PGHA President and Cofounder Lewis Gerew. The area in which we were investigating is not heavily investigated but has a reputation. The Park Rangers have been known to avoid this area due to first-hand paranormal experiences. It has been reported that several of them have been grabbed by the feet and ankles by unseen hands. The recording yielded a voice whispering "quiet" just after another investigator, who was a good distance away, laughed at something. Lew was off on his own with his digital recorder when this mysterious voice was captured. However, the voice was never actually heard while on location.

Sach's Bridge
The following EVP was obtained by PGHA President Lewis Gerew during the IGHS 1999 Gettysburg Ghost Conference. The EVP was captured with a digital recorder. Although at the time we did not hear this strange voice while on site, it sure did come out loud and clear on digital recording. It appears to say "My children burn". Spooky!

Wheat Field
The following EVP was obtained by PGHA President Lewis Gerew during the IGHS 1999 Gettysburg Ghost Conference. A digital recorder was used. The EVP includes answers to questions openly asked by Lew. While alone on the Wheat Field, I initiated an open conversation. After a few questions which received no response, I asked, "What Regiment are you with?" The reply was "One-Seventy-Four". Next I asked, "How old are you?" This response is difficult to make out a complete sentence. However, you can hear individual words clearly at certain points. We think that the second response may say "One hundred -- ha ha ha -- Seventy-four". Essentially, repeating the first reply. The only problem with the information given is that regiments at the battle of Gettysburg did not go that high in number. It wasn't until after the battle at Gettysburg that Civil War regiment's numbers had gotten that high.

Little Round Top
The following EVP  was obtained by PGHA member Andy K. with his digital recorder during one of our visits to Gettysburg. At the time, PGHA President Lew Gerew called out loud "Bayonet" to see if the spirits would somehow respond either on film and/or audio. Well, as you will soon hear, Andy was able to capture someone in a male voice repeating the word "Bayonet" about 10 seconds after Lew had yelled it out loud. Since the recording would take up way too much space, we had to cut the part with Lew out. On the recording you will hear what appears to be a grunt of some sort followed by the word "bayonet".

Inn at Jim Thorpe
This EVP was obtained by PGHA member Andy K. with his digital recorder during our recent investigation at The Inn at Jim Thorpe. While on the vacant fourth floor, Andy and I (Sharon) kept smelling a citrus perfume smell that reminded us of oranges. There was nothing on the entire floor that could have been responsible for the smell. Yes, we looked. Besides that, the entire fourth floor was used sort of as a storage area and looked as it may have many decades ago. So, as you can imagine, this is not an area that is cleaned too often. Also, some of the others members said that they too had smelled the "oranges" off and on throughout the night. On the tape you can hear Andy say, "Hello. Smelled your perfume. Is anyone here?" and right after that you hear someone say "No, no one's here!" Listen to Andy ask his questions in the beginning and then listen to the answer he receives.

Trinity Oxford Church Cemetery
This audio recording was captured by Sharon G., Vice-president of the PGHA during our investigation of Trinity Oxford Church Cemetery. We haven't been able to make out what the voice is saying, but it is definitely there and not of those present.

Fort Mifflin
This audio recording was captured by former PGHA members Danny & Nancy S. at our Fort Mifflin Investigation on April 28, 1998. They placed their recorder in the Dungeon area of the Fort where much ghostly activity has been experienced. The voice is that of a man yelling from a distance, what we believe to be "Keep Away".

Bristol Cemetery
This audio recording was captured by PGHA Vice-president Sharon Gerew during our Bristol Cemetery investigation on June 10, 1998. It appears to be a voice of a young child saying "Mom-Mom".

Ghosts of Gettysburg
The following EVP's were obtained during the 1998 IGHS Ghost Conference in Gettysburg Pa.. Before downloading the wav's there will be a description of where each EVP was recorded. At the time of recording we heard nothing unusual. It wasn't until later when we played the tape back that we heard these chilling EVP's.


This first EVP was recorded in the Homestead Orphanage. Everyone was broken into groups of 20 or less, and led on a tour of four homes. Homestead being the first. Rick Fisher,  the Director of the Pennsylvania Ghost Hunters Society had just captured an anomaly with his digital camera and had called out to the others: "I picked up a couple in this room". A few seconds later you hear a woman's voice whisper "They're in here". No one had been whispering. As a matter of fact, everyone had just been reminded previously that day to talk in their normal voice if they needed to speak during an investigation. The reason for this is simple. If you were to get an EVP you want to be sure that it's legitimate and not someone else attending the investigation. Here it for yourself!

This next EVP was recorded at Devils Den during the 1998 IGHS Ghost Conference. No one else was present while recording this except Lew and I. I was the one doing the recording. I just walked around with it on RECORD the whole time. Sometime the previous day we had heard of the existence of caves at Devils Den. Being naturally curious, we decided to go and try to find them ourselves. These "caves" are not the caves one would imagine but rather deep narrow spaces in between the huge boulders that house Devils Den. Upon looking around Lew came across a rather narrow space between two huge boulders and decided he would try and get down inside to take some pictures. I was a little frightened that once he got down inside that he wouldn't be able to get out again, so after he made it half way down and had already snapped a few pics, I asked him to please come back up. He did! Later that night after playing back the tape I recorded on while at Devils Den we heard something strange. At first all we could make out was "I am dead ____ ____ ____ ____". We just couldn't figure out the rest of the words. It wasn't till we returned home and transferred this EVP to our computer that we finally heard the rest. It say's "I am dead don't walk on me"! We couldn't believe it! It's actually rather sad. We heard this best while listening to it through headphones on the computer and playing  it a few (hundred) times.

This next one was recorded while investigating the Farnsworth House during the 1998 IGHS Ghost Conference in Gettysburg Pa.. Many people were having strange feelings in the basement of this place from the time they walked in. Myself included. Many cold spots were detected with thermal scanners in this basement, others got anomalous photos. When we listened to the tape later that night we heard men whistling a tune. You may remember this as a silly song from your childhood. If anyone knows the REAL name of this song please E-mail us and let us know. Thanks! You can hear this if you block out the foreground noise. It should also be noted that this "march song" lasted for a good 40-50 seconds on our tape. However, we could not include this entire section because, as you may have guessed, it would take too long to download.

*Note: Many of you sent us e-mail telling us that the above marching tune was in the movie, "Bridge Over The River Kwai". Since we had never seen the movie, we decided to do some research. Turns out, you were right! The marching tune above was in the movie and is called...."Colonel Bogey March"

One last thing. We know that this song did not exist during the Civil War. This is yet another reason why this EVP is such a mystery to us. Also, during this investigation, there were no TV's or radios playing for obvious reasons.
