Cyber Cards and Gifts
Free or Nearly Free Cyber Cards
Not surprisingly, Hallmark, the biggest name in greeting cards, has jumped into the cyber greetings game. Although choices are limited at this site, there are 4 really cute animated cards that kids will especially love to receive. Send your special message at Hallmark Electronic Greetings.
Kodak Moments Postcards offers a whopping 108 high quality photo images for you to use to create your own personalized e-mail postcard! There are 12 images in each of 9 categories titled Beautiful Creatures, Color in Bloom, Natural Wonders, Fresh Faces, Digital Dreams, Great Cities, Night Lights, Perfect Pairs, and Walls and Windows. Each category also offers one multimedia card which requires Shockwave in order to be viewed. (Kodak has conveniently provided a link to the Shockwave sight for down loading the necessary software.)
With the Tazmanian Devil as the postmaster, who could resist a visit to the Warner Brothers WeB Cards post office? Here you'll find many of the familiar Warner Brothers cartoon characters that you know and love just waiting to send your personalized greetings for you. And.....Taz is always updating the available messages to accommodate upcoming seasonal events, such as Mother's Day!
Blue Mountain Arts Electronic Greeting Cards is one of the most popular and unique on line e-card services. Categories offered include Love, Family, Thank You, Sympathy, Graduation, Get Well, Thinking of You, Wedding, Anniversary, Congratulations, and Follow Your Dreams. This site also offers Special Interest Categories where you can choose to send a "Save the Wolves" card, an Endangered Species card, a 3D Art card, or a Shakespearean love sonnet. Graphics are good quality cartoon drawings, (with the exception of some of the Special Interest cards) and many cards are "interactive."
Part of the Unofficial Lion King Web Site, The Lion King Personalized Post Cards site is not run by a big company, but by an enthusiastic fan of the movie. The entire site is one of the best user sites I've seen, and the postcards are a sure hit for Disney fans of all ages! One of the neatest things about this site is that you can include a sound clip with your card. Creator Brian Tiemann has also included an extensive archive of Lion King images from the Lion King Print Studio (most images are in GIF format).
Looking for something just a little different? The Bytesize Greetings Cardshop may be just what you need. Besides the traditional greeting card categories, this site offers Business, Engagement, I'm Sorry, Just Because, and New Baby categories. I personally find it difficult to find exactly what I'm looking for without having to load all the images, but in general, I like the site.
If you or someone you know loves Teddy bears, then you know about Gund. Now, thanks to Gund Greetings, you can send a cuddly, cozy Teddy bear like the one shown here to say "I love you," or any other personalized message. You'll also find a Gund lion and a Gund kitten as image selections. Choices are limited, but the quality is outstanding!
Internet Card Central has only been online for a year, but already it has had almost a million visitors! It is a treasure chest of information on web sites offering cyber cards. Sites are not only indexed alphabetically, but also by occasion, subject, and special features, and ICC is one of the few card sites that I've seen to offer Jewish themed greetings. Special features include animated cards, foreign language sites, use your own images, and the ability to pre-order a card to be sent at a later date. This is a great site, and extremely well organized, but I must warn you....it could take weeks to wade through all the sites listed here. Visit at your own risk!
