Pathfinder Tours offers the very best in excursions by rail throughout the
British Isles. Whether you want a day trip to one of Britain's historic cities,
a land cruise through areas of outstanding beauty or to places off the beaten
track where passenger trains no longer normally run, or a weekend excursion
to the Highlands of Scotland, we have just the train for you. Our year round
programme also offers nostalgic excursions over the main line system hauled
by historic steam engines, as well as tours for the enthusiast interested
in the modern railway scene.
Our programme of special excursion trains over the coming months is detailed
below and will be updated regularly. Outline details of our currently published
excursions are shown, together with advance information about proposed tours
not included in our current brochures. To get copies of our brochures and
to join our FREE mailing list, phone 01453 835414, or write to Pathfinder
Tours at the address above. You can also 'fax us on 01453 836538.
The carriages used on most of our excursions are classic British Railways
Mark 1 coaches, built from 1951 to 1964 for main line express trains. These
carriages offer a high level of comfort, all seats giving an excellent view
from the wide windows. Many of the coach interiors have been fully refurbished
and work is proceeding apace on the remainder, whilst the outsides have been
repainted in traditional liveries.
As an alternative, a limited number of Pathfinder tours are formed of Great
Western Trains InterCity 125 sets, usually fully refurbished.
With very few exceptions, Pathfinder excursions offer a choice of Standard
Class and First Class seating, the latter offering deep cushioned arm-chair
type seating and more leg-room.
For that very special occasion, many of our excursions offer the option of
Premier Class, with fares inclusive of full at-seat silver-service dining,
usually comprising the Great British Breakfast, Light Luncheon and a four
course Evening Dinner followed by coffee and chocolates. Special Diets can
be catered for if advised at the time of booking, but the Premier Class option
is definitely not one for those on a diet!
We can also offer a wide range of dates for half day excursions on the
VENICE - SIMPLON ORIENT EXPRESS (VSOE) from London Victoria. Sample
for yourself the sheer luxury of one of the world's most famous trains. Relax
and enjoy the beauties of the English countryside as a superb meal with champagne
and wine is served at your seat. An experience not to be forgotten. For full
details, please contact the Pathfinder office.
There are trips to suit all pockets, with adult fares from £13.50 to
£445. Reductions are available for juniors (age 5 - 15 inclusive) and
there are special fares for 'families' on most trains.
Details of all the tours and excursions described below are subject to our
conditions of booking - for further information see our brochures.
We have tried to keep the details on this site as accurate as possible, but
cannot be held responsible for any errors that might be contained herein.
