'BEFORE ENTERING THE DARKNESS, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST......
 Greetings people, and welcome to the Darkside. Thank you for taking the time to check this out. I would like to explain this a bit before you move forward. Last year I started Darkside as a project which appeared as a printed zine. After deciding to continue with this I came to the conclusion as to trying something new. So with the help of a few friends, Darkside has been moved "online". I did this for a few reasons. One is that there are so many printed zines already out. Some which are of great quality, and the scores of others that fall behind them. Since I never charged for ad space in the past, everything was coming out of my pocket, and to create a high quality zine and try to print in high volume, the cost was out of my range. So my decision was made, being that the internet is our future (kind of spooky huh?), this is where our new home will be. I do plan to try to release a newsletter of 8-10 pages every other month to keep people who are not yet online or dot have access to a computer updated.
 Having Darkside online means that I will be able to reach people all over the world in greater numbers, a lot more than I could have with my printed zine. Also, you will be able to view this zine in color with clear photos and text. In the near future, because we will always be adding new things, you will be able to download audio from bands including interviews. We also plan on video downloads which you will be able to view. This feature will expose you to new bands that you may not have heard yet, or have not been able to play in your area. What you see here is only the start. There are many ideas and plans in the works that are coming up such as the things I've described, contests and give a ways, classified section, future live chats with bands, and many others including The Gallery of Evil Flesh. Take a guess as to what that is about! But the main benefit to having Darkside online is that it will be updated weekly. This means that the music, live show, and interviews will be up to date. Much of what is in here now may be a little old. It was intended to be in the printed version but never made it. But please read them, for it is still of use. A music review is never too old if you have not heard or bought that item yet. Some of the interviews are pretty dated as well but still worth reading. In the future, you will not have to read things that happened six months ago like you do in most printed zines. I don't have to wait for printing or to have the finances, I just have to sit and type. Being able to do this will only help you as well as the bands and labels who send stuff for review.
 I'd like to thank the people who took the time to send material and have the patience with me. There are so many and I apologize for any I have missed. Here's a list off the top of my head. Thanks goes out to Bob, Sydney, Ralph, Kim, Joey and all at Metal Blade, Marco, Matt and all at Century Media, Maria and Nuclear Blast, Lucky and Repulse, Maria and Ellen (you two rule!)at Victory, Matt and Pavement, Tammy(wherever you are now!) and Sean at M.I.A. Ed and Black Mark, Richard at Wild Rag, Jon and Earache, Paula Hogan (I hope we can work together again) and Mayem/Fierce, Rotten Records, Pulverizer, Bovine Records, Relapse Records, Hammerheart Records, Solistitium Records, John Finberg( Tremendous!!! See you at Metal Fest) Ezatt and all at The Showcase and any label or person I may have missed. I would like to thank the following bands for their time and help; Vader, Sadistic Intent, Rise, Cradle of Filth, Six Feet Under, Hatred, Noctuary, Final Conflict,  Immolation, Grip Inc., Strife, The Misfits, Ancient, S.Y.L, and Chris Wood for the contributions of Deceased, Demonacy, Brutal Truth, and Vital Remains. If you don't see these bands featured at this time... they will be uploaded soon.
 There is one more thing you may notice. This zine covers many forms of music. I don't listen to just one type. I cover all forms of extreme metal and all forms of punk and hardcore. Some of you should open your eyes and ears to different things. Being closed minded never helps anything. New people to the scene can only help ticket and cd sales. But if your not open to it, that's your opinion and its ok. Just don't send me any hate mail saying I'm not true to a certain type of music! One last thing... support whatever you believe in. Buy the demos, buy the cds, go to all the shows, and that includes the local bands too. With out you... we may not have an underground to live in. So everyone out there... send in your stuff. I feel that I'm more than fair in my reviews. I try not to rip apart bands too much no matter how bad it may be. At least your trying. Its so easy for us who do reviews to be critical of others. I would still rather hear a band who's doing something that has been done to death than listen to what's on the radio. But... there are a few out there who deserve a true beating for making me listen to their tapes... hahaha. Anyways, in closing I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read Darkside. Please bookmark this site and come back often as many new things will be added in our first month and updates will continue on a weekly basis.
 A special thanks go out to Rik, Rob, and Joey for all your time and help.
 Labels, bands, zines, etc.....send all material to be reviewed to;
