This site was originally brainstormed and developed
by former coach Jeff Koger and his brother-in-law Tim, after Mr. Koger attended
an Internet for Educators class at
University of
Illinois-Springfield in 1996. After an entire summer's worth of research
about former team records and the history of the Riverton program, Coach
Koger, Tim, and
Ray
Schroeder (UIS Professor of Communications) put together several record-book
webpages on RHS basketball. This was the birthplace of the Riverton Hawks
Basketball Website!

The Hawks website has been accessed by visitors from
121 countries abroad and by over 300 different universities in the United
States. In the last four years, 28 foreign high school players have inquired
to Coach Koger about playing at Riverton High School, but unfortunately these
players must look elsewhere due to a district policy of no exchange or
emancipated students in competitive athletics. The Hawks have received over
25 requests to play in large prestigious tournaments outside the state of
Illinois from states such as Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, California,
Florida, New York, Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee, New Jersey, Oregon, Puerto
Rico, and also countries such as Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Guam, Italy, and
Germany. |
