Father Figaro’s Summary of Theology: “God is love, and the candles to Saint Jude are two bucks.” Welcome to my home page. If you have come to learn a bit about me, here is at least part of the story. I am an Orthodox Christian living in God's Country, that is, the Midwest. I live in my wife's hometown of New Lenox, Illinois, which is south of Chicago and east of Joliet. I am originally from Leonard, Michigan, a small rural village 36 miles north of Detroit. I have lived in Southfield (Michigan), Chicago, Cincinnati, and Cedar Lake (Indiana). The last three locations were home because I was once a member of the Order of Friars Minor. I was formerly a member of the Ukrainian-Greco Catholic Church, too. I have a BS in mechanical engineering from Lawrence Technological University. I studied Philosophy and Theology at Loyola University Chicago and Catholic Theological Union. I am married to the ever-wonderful Gina and father of Kira, Gregory, and Lucia. I am a graduate of at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary. I compose and arrange liturgical music. Liturgy and music have been part of my constant study since 1992. Of course, I specialized in these things at Seminary. I was previously the choir director at St. Michael's Ukrainian Orthodox Pro-Cathedral in Hammond, Indiana. I now serve as deacon at Ss. Peter and Paul's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Palos Park, Illinois. To the pay the bills, I am a contract IBM AS/400 programmer and web site developer. I also am instructor at Joliet Junior College where I teach Introduction to Comparative Religion. God bless all of you who have visited my page! Deacon Sloan (Silouan) Rolando
