"Well when you do the kind of work that I do you become "privy" to certain types of information. First of all hopefully your bank is one of those banks that can only charge this fee for a certain # of days - like for one bank it's $6 per day for 5 days for a total of $30 and you have 30 days from the overdraft to get your account back above $0 Now like I said above there are just some things that go on as far as one's utility bills are concerned that the utility companies don't want you to know about. Now your case may be too late but for those who have been threatened with a shut off notice there is at least one thing that you can do to delay your shutoff. Mind you I say DELAY - you are still responsible for paying the balance owed but you won't get shut off for at least 3 months. Hopefully that will give you enough time to either find a way to make a payment arrangement, get some money to pay the back balance owed or to find a grant program to help you with the utility bill. Of course "rich" people use this method and it is one of those "loophole" things that the utility companies are trying to get rid of but until they do this "loophole" sometimes turns out to be a person's last resort. Ironically enough this information comes in the bill for your utility bill but people don't read it (or they don't notice it). I don't even think that its ethical for the social services agencies to suggest it but its not illegal and like I said before its usually a person's last hope - but at least it does provide them with some (temporary) time.

"Yes like to many others I have come on hard times and really need a leg up so to speak. That would be a grant and yes a very large one. We have sent out at least 100 inquiry letters asking for information and applications with compete mailing and email also phone information, but have never received a word from anyone. I'm not a quitter , but I'm getting to the point where maybe I should throw the towel in,and call the funeral home. If you think there is something I might do , or write to please email. We would appreciate it tremendously." It is so hard to believe that after sending out at least 100 inquiries that you didn't get any feedback of any kind. But unfortunately it tells me that either you haven't inquired at the right places or that those places weren't doing their jobs. Recently I applied for a $500 check for one of my older relatives because they were eligible for this government grant program. On the application itself it said that a lot of people did not know about the program but it was there to benefit seniors. A lot of this will depend a lot on who it was that you submitted inquiries to and whether or not they were the right places to inquire. There are a number of "emergency financial" grant programs that are available from non-governmental organizations like foundations and non-profit organizations. In order to apply you have to show/demonstrate financial need. There are also a number of programs that help with utility bills and home repairs. More information about additional programs appear below. |

"I NEED YOU GUYS EXPERTISE ON THOSE "HOW TO GET FREE MONEY FOR ANYTHING" WEBSITES..ANY SUGGESTIONS? I FOUND THIS ONE QUITE INTERESTING. NEVERTHELESS, I AM NOT SO SURE..IT EXPLAINS HOW YOU CAN OBTAIN FREE GRANT MONEY FOR COLLEGE,EXPANDING A BUSINESS,ETC...." "Free money" can be had BUT it will really depend on the specifics of what it is you want. For instance the government does provide money that you don't have to pay back like help to pay your heating bill. That particular program requires you to meet their eligibilty requirements but the end result is that you do get the money and it is applied against your heating bill. There is another program where you get a payment if you are over the age of 65, and a renter or homeowner - again from a government program. Yet there is another part of the government that provides "free" money but in reality while the money is free it is money that was either lost or forgotten by those that it belongs to and the governent is just trying to return it to its rightful owner (or in the case of the owner being deceased - the owner's family). So those are some of the examples of "free money". Now as far as grants for businesses are concerned this has cause a very great (and sometimes emotional) debate. There are companies that have received governent contracts but those are not grants those are you having the government as your client. Plus there are separate entities like foundations and sponsors that aren't part of the government but do offer financial resources - most notably for artists, writers and such. Scholarships and getting them isn't new and has been around for quite some time. |
(in 6 - 8 Weeks!) Not everyone qualifies and if you don't maybe you can help those that do! If you are or know someone who is aged 65 or older and are paying either rent or a mortgage you may qualify to received up to $500 back. |

The Federal Government provides energy assistance!
The best example of this would be utility bills - especially heating bills! Did you know that just a few days ago I was listening to a local radio program and the guest was a represenative of a organization that helps people with helping to pay their utility bills. There was no advertising for this program, no announcements, flyers, etc.,....I just happened to be listening when it was announced that they would be on in a few minutes. The thing that stood out the most about this guest was their genuine interest in people contacting them to find out what kinds of programs were available to them. What were some of the programs? Well one program totally forgives the back balance of your heating bill PROVIDED you pay a monthly amount for a period of 6 months! And that was just one of the programs they mentioned! There is an actual program that will provide an assessment of your home's status as far as making it more heating efficient. This program also includes repairs and even replacement of your heating system at no cost to you! That includes the cost of the system and installation! Again at no cost to you! This is not just a local program because it is available in many areas! And again this is just but one example of this kind of program. Last year alone in my own area over 5,000 people were able to use this program! How did I know this? I talked to the head contractor that does the work! There are also funding programs that help with other utility-related bills such as phone and water.
So if you don't think that these kinds of programs exist just tell that to the people that have already used this program!
Note - The availability of assistance is not guaranteed!
You may be able to receive assistance with your energy bill(s) and repairs that are energy related. There may also be available assistance to help you with the weatherization of your residence.
Are you talking about fixing up a house that has yet to be purchased or are you talking about your existing residence. It also depends on what you mean by "fix" Its also hard to distinguish between the type of service you want to offer - meaning whether you're going to let it be a daycare program or an afterschool program. There are grant programs for providing child care, daycare and after school programs whether it be separately or in combination. So basically what you are talking about is grant money for fixing up your house. My own area has a grant program that allows for around $20,000.00 in repairs. The one requirement about this grant program is that if the house is sold they recoup their cost FIRST. If this is something that you don't mind then you should look and see if your area has the same program. A relative of mine is going to get both their furnace and water heater fixed using one of the grant programs for those who have a low-incomed household. So again look to your own area to see if there is a grant program like this. So once you have that taken care of then you can work on the daycare related funding.

Is there such a grant or other for septic systems? We live in a rural area in Up-Upstate New York and our old Septic is not up to code and we were told that because we are near the river we may need a more expensive system. I know there are grants for rural municipals but what about the residential individual.
T~
There are some grant programs available for residential septic-related problems. For instance:
The above information shows that there are such grant programs available for residential septic-related repairs. All you have to do now is do the research to find out if there are any similar grant programs available in your own area. Don't just look for state programs. Look for federal programs as well. |
If you are a law enforcement officer, there is a government program that may help you purchase a home in a HUD-revitalization area by offering qualified purchasers a 50% discount off the list price of homes available from HUD's inventory. You must agree to live in the home for three years and it may be your only residence during that time. In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be or have been a law enforcement officer who is employed (full-time) and is a current or prospective homeowner. For more information about this program you can go to their website.

A Taiwanese immigrant who came to America seven years ago is now living in a townhouse that she shares with her husband and their two children. The townhouse has two bedrooms, one and a half baths, a living room, a dining room and a kitchen courtesy of a federal grant program for first-time homebuyers which aims to maintain and support economic diversity, improve housing environments, prevent homelessness and provide access to public and private facilities for people with disabilities.
HI MY NAME IS Y~. I AM INTERSTED IN A GRANT FOR REPAIR TO MY HOME
PLEASE HELP ME OUT IN THIS SITUATION THANK YOU IN ADVANCE TELEPHONE#
#`, PHILADELPHIA PA
When looking for a home repair-related grant the one thing that you are
going to have to realize is that there is no one place that has grants for
repairs to a home. It will depend on the type of repair(s) that you want.
There are programs that help with the cost of heating-related repairs - such
as getting your heating system repaired or replaced. In my own area
(PA) there is
a grant program for $25,000 worth of repairs to homes that fall within a
certain area. There are also programs that provide assistance such as
"emergency" funding for repairs and/or needed necessities so you can also
look outside the realm of house repair categories as far as grant programs
are concerned. So you assess the repairs that you need done and then you find
the funding programs that you qualify for. It is as simple as that.
I don't know which program you applied for but there are programs for those that are elderly. Case in point - I'm working with someone now because their heating system is not working and the program will repair it for free! It's really crazy because the same program will also pay an amount to her heating bill as well. It won't cover the whole bill but there will be 2 grants that will be applied towards the heating bill plus the repair work to her heating system. As a matter of fact if her heating system is shot they will install a new one! There are also programs that are tied in with the lottery - you know the money being used for programs to help the elderly with as much as a $500 check that can be deposited to a bank account - from a government program. In the area where I live the residents are eligible for $20,000.00 in repairs from a grant program. So you may not be looking in the right places or the specifics of the program that you were applying for have to be better known.
You will definitely have to start doing some homework. Just going from your post alone you would first have to see what is available in your area. If you are on any kind of assistance like food stamps then you should have a case worker. A lot of grant programs that relate to home repairs have to do with the elderly and disabled. However you should first check and see what programs are available under HUD and then from there check your state government and then from there your local governement facilities. There are also grants provided that are from organizations other than the government. For instance there is a grant of $125 for winning essays from single mothers to help inspire others. You have to look into all the options available to you.
If you are employed, but a health problem may prevent you from continuing to work, your local center can help. Especially convenient for those who need a major operation, but have no insurance, This center will pay for the doctors’ visits, medication, actual surgery, recuperative equipment and physical therapy, as well as major dental work, too.
Had dental problems for years? Discolored, broken or missing teeth keeping you from a promotion you deserve? Are your dental problems causing you pain? Speak to someone at your local center. They’ll help you find a dentist in your area that can fix your dental problems and get you back to work in no time.
The goal is to help those with handicaps find and keep work. Even if your handicap is temporary, such as a bum hip, they’ll help you get fixed up and back to work. They also offer vocational counseling, job matching, custom training, assistive technology and independent living help. You must be able to prove that you cannot afford the surgery yourself, and that your income is too low to pay for the treatments.
You don’t have to already be unemployed to receive assistance like surgery or dental work. You just need to have been told by a doctor that you require the particular surgery or dental work. Although they cannot just fill and cap teeth for individuals who need this type of work, they can help you get major dental work done if it is preventing you from going to work because of pain. They can also assist you with dental work if it’s keeping you from being able to work in a field in which you’re qualified, but overlooked, because of your dental appearance
"These are just one of the many programs
designed to help those who live on a modest income...There are programs that
can help with utility bills, housing and even prescription drugs.....Unfortunately
a lot of those that may qualify for these programs either do not know about
them or think that they can't apply because they don't think that they qualify...."
