RaiderRaider

Ch. Bridgewood's B.K. Kahuna,

Sire of Merit,

Legion of Merit

August 1990 - May 2001

Raider is number 4 on the all-time list of producers with 9 Producers of Merit!

We purchased Raider when he was 16 months old. He was bred by Bridge Reinhold of Bridgewood Boxers and Michelle Steele found him for us. Under Gary Steele's expert handling, Raider finished his championship in 2 weekends, undefeated, including two 5-point majors. Raider was the number one Boxer on the West Coast in 1993 and 1994 (again with Gary at the helm), a two-time ABC Top 20 Contender, and is the sire of 25 American Champions, including 5 Top 20 Contenders (2 two-time ABC Top 20 Contenders Ch. Rosend's Bo Diddley, SOM, Ch. Bayview Strides Ahead, SOM, and Ch. Jems Jack of Diamonds, SOM, and 1997 ABC Top 20 Contender Ch. Jems Pearl Jam, SOM, and 1998 Top 20 Contender Ch. Topaz' Tradewinds). Raider also produced producers, acknowledged by his ABC Legion of Merit status, with six ABC Sires of Merit and three ABC Dams of Merit to his credit already, Ch. Bayview Strides Ahead, Am./Can. Ch. Rosend's Corporate Raider, Ch. Jems Pearl Jam, Ch. Rosend's Bo Diddley, Ch. Rosend's Uptown Girl, Am./Can. Ch. Berlane's Causin An Uproar, Ch. Jems Jack of Diamonds, Ch. Bayview Tequila Hi of CherKei, and Am./Can. Ch. Berlane's Wish Upon a Star. Raider has also produced 2 LOM, Ch. Bayview Strides Ahead and Ch. Rosend's Uptown Girl. Not only was Raider a prepotent sire, but a wonderful companion. His sweet, soft expression mirrored his wonderful personality-- he was a joy to live with and is permanently etched in our hearts.

Raider's health checks included: 1) OFA-good (hips) (BX-1335G68M), 2) OFA (cardiac) BX-CA187/108M/C; 3) ECG/ultrasound and doppler exam of his heart on 11/20/97 at UC/Davis by certified cardiologist with no detectable abnoramlities or heart disease, 4) again heart tested November 1999 by board-certified cardiologist, with all tests again indicating no detectable abnoramlities or heart disease; 5) CERF'd in 1996.

On May 11th, Raider suddenly came down with paralysis of his entire left side, eventually and quickly resulting in his inability to stand or negotiate. He was diagnosed with most likely a brain tumor, albeit a diagnosis could only be confirmed through an MRI. Ultimately the prognosis was negative under any circumstances. Raider was put to rest on May 15th in Lynda's arms. We will never be the same, no matter how many Raider grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc., grace our home. Goodnight sweet Ray-Ray.

His champion get to date includes 26 American Champions and 7 Canadian Champions, 5 ABC Top 20 Contenders, 2 Legion of Merit, and 9 ABC Sires/Dams of Merit:
