Monkees Merchandise

For those of you living in the Austin, Texas area, the Austin Record Convention takes place twice yearly.  I got most of my trading cards here as well as a couple of books.  I've also seen a lot of original record albums here.  Happy hunting!  ;-)

(Dobolina also has a nice page of merchandise information on her own site.)

Fan-operated Trading Posts

  • coyle3303@aol.com does not yet have a web site, but he does have a nice collection of concerts and other Monkees videos available.  Email the above address for a list of specific items.

  • Hoo's Trading Post - Hoo's audio tapes are $8 each and 2 hour videotapes are $10 apiece.  The video tapes are available only in the packages she has listed - no custom pick & choose stuff please.

Commercial Sites

Online Bookstores That Carry Monkees Books

  • Amazon Books - One of the largest online bookstores.  Some book listings include reviews from people who have read the book in question.

  • Barnes and Noble - another large online bookstore. Some listings include reviews.  They don't seem to have quite as many Monkees listings as Amazon Books above, but then there aren't as many duplicate listings either.  Out of print and used books are on a separate page (288k when I visited), but apparently only use the first few letters of the search term and gave me a huge list of books about monks until I added the guys' names as keywords.  There is also a search function to look for articles about the Monkees, although these are only summaries and the full article must be purchased for a small fee ($2.95) from Northern Light Technology.

  • Pianospot.com lets you search by title, composer, performer, or source (like what movie or tv show the song is from, for example).  You can also specify what kind of instrument you want the music for (14 specific instruments or just select "any instrument").  There are several music collections here with one or two Monkees songs in them, but the only all-monkees book that I see listed is "The Monkees Greatest Hits", which has 20 songs listed.

Audio/Video
(CDs, MP3s, Audio Tapes, Video Tapes, etc.)

  • Beachwood Recordings - Get Peter Tork's & James Lee Stanley's albums here!

  • CD-Now! - CD-Now! has several Monkees albums and videotapes available, including the new "Anthology".  Just do an "artist search" for "Monkees".  (The "Hey Hey, We're The Monkees" CD-ROM is apparently no longer available.)

  • Columbia House offers the Monkees TV series by videotape subscription.  They will apparently be offering all the episodes this way.  For more information, go to the Video Library section, click the "start shopping" button, go to Classic Series > Comedy and go to page 5 of 7. or contact them as follows:

    Columbia House Contact Info
    Phone 1-800-262-2001
    1-800-457-0866
    Mail Columbia House
    1400 North Fruitridge Ave.
    Terre Haute, IN 47812-9602

  • Visit eatsleepmusic.com! - Download online karaoke here.  The site offers a free player for the downloadable files (these appear to be high quality professional MIDI files).  You can apparently also choose various songs and have a custom CD made from them.  They also offer various sound equipment for your PC (speakers, music keyboards, microphones, etc.), message boards, and several other features.  For current pricing per song or CD in US dollars, see their pricing information page.

  • Here No Evil  Monsterbit Records' "Here No Evil:  A Tribute To The Monkees".  There are also .WAV file samples of some of the songs from the album on this site.

  • Music Boulevard is another large music vendor with a large selection of Monkees and related albums and videotape.  Prices seem to be quite reasonable.

  • Song Search - another good list of reasonably priced Monkees music & videos.

  • Soundstone.com - they seem to have a good collection of Monkees albums for very reasonable prices.

  • Detroit radio station WPON interviewed Davy Jones on March 9, 2000.  A tape of this interview is now available.  Just send a money order for $7.50 to:

    WPON Radio
    2222 Franklin Road
    Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302

Official Memorabilia Sources

  • Beachwood Recordings - Get Peter Tork's and James Lee Stanley's albums here!

  • Davy's new site Davy's Dream Web has a Hercules Promotions merchandise page.  UPDATE! - For those of you looking for the "LIVE!  Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Peter Tork" album recorded at a concert in 1986, you can now find ordering information for it on this page on Davy's site.

  • Now that Micky is now selling his stuff through his own official website at The Micky Dolenz Official Website, I've removed the "Micky Merchandise" page I had up here before with his stuff on it.

  • Rhino Records  Rhino Records - The Monkees-specific index page is at The Monkees Store.  Buy music or videos.  You can also download from Rhino's collection of Monkees photos to use as computer wallpaper.  The "Extras" section contains Quicktime videos and quotes about the group.

  • Michael Nesmith's "Videoranch" site offers copies of his videos and CDs here.  Beware though - the prices are a bit steep.

Miscellaneous Monkees Stuff

  • Crash Designs Inc. offers two very nice black Monkees t-shirts that I don't think I've seen on Rhino's site.  The links to the various sections of this site from their main page has broken images, so if you want to go straight to the Monkees page, go to http://www.crashdesigns.com/monkees.html

  • New Legends Concert Posters And Memorabilia Page - sells collectible posters, sheet music, old backstage passes, etc.  Searchable by artist/group name, musical genre (50s rock, pop group, heavy metal, etc.) or item type (poster, sheet music, etc.).

  • Vroom - The "Official Catalog of Rock and Roll".  I found this on a web search engine under Monkees - there wasn't any Monkees stuff listed in the catalog or swap meet areas when I looked, but maybe you'll have better luck.  You can search the online catalog, download it in PDF format (approximately 4 meg), or order a print version for $3.00 US.  They also have a swap meet area for fans to buy and sell their own memorabilia - this is like the guest book/message boards on other web sites and is also searchable.
