My Scrapbook from the
1997 NCAA Div. I Cross Country Championships
I realized after NCAA Regionals were over that Greenville was only about a six hour drive or so from our campus. So four of us decided to cut class for that Monday and head over to Furman to watch the greatest collegiate meet on earth. We found the city of Greenville to be...well, rather tranquil (?). Our thanks go out to the Greenville city police for their leniency regarding racing on grocery shopping carts at 1:30 a.m. (we were really out for an 8 miler...honest!). The meet itself was a marvelous occasion, as closely contested as two championship races will ever be. For the cross country junky, it is truly heaven on earth. My scrapbook is a few selected pictures we took on the golf course at Furman. The nice looking ones were taken by Mark McNeil (and his good camera), while the blury ones I shot with my $20 (college student deluxe) camera. Enjoy the memories as you flip through the virtual scrapbook...And if you like it, meet us in Lawerence, Kansas next November and we'll do it all over again. Well, everything but the shopping carts, which we have sworn off...
