The men of the 10th Texas Infantry had been captured at Arkansas Post, Arkansas, on January 11, 1863. The officers were sent
to Camp Chase in Springfield, Ohio, and the men were sent to at Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinios.
They had been paroled from their three month imprisonment on April 1, 1863; the men were exchanged at City
Point, Virginia, seven days later; but the officers were held at Fort Delaware Prison for three weeks. They were exchanged at City Point, Virginia,
on April 29, 1863
1Lt. Albert G. Green, age 43 of Co. H, 10th Texas Infantry, died of
"phthesis pulmonalis" (or consumption, now known as tuberculosis) in Hospital No. 4 at Richmond,
Virginia, on May 24, 1863. His effects were 1 small trunk containing clothing, valued at $20.00,
and $585.00 in pay was due his estate.
1Lt. Green was buried in Section X, Plot Number 6 of the Hollywood
Cemetery of Richmond, Virginia.
