Mr. Cone Head Party Hat

This little person can sit on your desk. Or, you can wear him to a party as a party hat.

If you'd like to print out these instructions, go to your File menu and select Print.

What You'll Need:
Colored paper for printer
Scissors
Stapler
Computer paint program, such as Kid Pix
(or pattern from this page)

What To Do:

• At your computer, open a painting program such as Kid Pix, ClarisWorks/Paint, or Windows Paint. Draw a large circle on your screen. Draw a triangle inside of the circle. This triangle is the face. Use the tricks you learned in the project "How to Draw a Face" to add eyes, nose, and a mouth to this face. Draw guide lines inside the triangle if you need to. Remember, this face is drawn just like the oval shaped face.
  
• Draw a small dot in the center of the triangle face forehead, half way between the tip of the triangle and where the eyes start. You'll use this guide later, when you cut the paper.
  
• Draw a small rectangle to one side of the circle. Draw hands on each end of this rectangle. Place colored paper into your printer and print one copy.
  
  Another option:
  Print the pattern that is provided.
  
• Cut out the circle shape. Cut a slot from the tip of the triangle to dot in the forehead. Overlap one cut edge over the other to make a cone shape. Staple together. Make a small snip at the top of the cone. Cut two slots about 1/2" long at each side of the face. Place the slots at the level of the nose.
  
• Cut out the strip with hands at each end. Insert one hand into one slot, pull through the cone and out the second slot.
  
• To make hair, cut a piece of colored paper into a 2" square. Cut fringes along one side of the square. Fold the paper several times along the base of the fringes. Bend the fringes, insert the base into the slot at the top of the cone. To wear as a party hat, secure to hair with bobby pins.
