MATERIALS: Size 10 (bedspread weight) crochet thread: 1 ball main color (MC) and 1 ball contrast color (CC); Size 7 steel crochet hook; 1 elastic hair band.
DIRECTIONS:
Note: FPDC = front post double crochet
With MC, sl st onto elastic band.
Rnd 1: Make 70 sc around band. Join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each remaining sc around. Join with sl st in first sc. (70 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, make 3 dc in each remaining sc around. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off MC. Very full (210 dc)
Rnd 4: Join CC with sl st in joining stitch, ch 3, dc in next dc and in each remaining dc around. Join same as in Rnd 3. Fasten off CC.
Rnd 5: Join MC with sl st in joining stitch, ch 1, sc in same st and in each of next 3 dc, skip first 4 dc of Rnd 3 below, * FPDC around next dc in Rnd 3, skip the dc behind the post, sc in next 4 dc *, repeat between * around, ending with a FPDC in last dc. Join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in next sc and in each remaining st around. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
Rnd 7: Ch 3, skip next dc, * sc in next dc, ch 3 *, repeat between * around. Join with sl st in base of beg ch-3. Fasten off MC.
Rnd 8: Working this round in skipped dc of Rnd 6 and holding ch-3's of Rnd 7 in front of work, join CC with sl st in first skipped dc, ch 4, * sc in next skipped dc, ch 4 *, repeat between * around. Join with sl st in base of beg ch-4. Fasten off and weave in loose thread ends.
