Dachshunds are the funniest and most clever of dogs. Below you will find a few photos to prove it!

Shakti and Wotan like to sleep lying on top of each other. This behavior is quite common in dachshunds. We call it "forming a puppy pile."
Wotan is a great 'killer' of boxes. He goes wild with desire if we put his high-bouncing balls in a box and tape it shut. After he removes the balls, he will spend an hour just ripping up the box and hiding the balls underneath the pieces.
Shakti sometimes coquettishly taunts Wotan with his favorite ball. She will grab it and go up to Wotan, hitting him in the side with her butt and shoving her mouth at his mouth. Sometimes Wotan is able to pull the ball out of her mouth with his mouth. We find this very entertaining!
Dachsies LOVE to dig. Here you can see them with their entire faces shoved into thick mud on a trail in Oregon after a heavy rain.
When he hears the words "Down below" Wotan goes CRAZY. Wotan lives to hunt and one of his favorite spots to search is down in our crawl space. Although he has never found an animal down there, he adores it when the male who used to be around was willing to put him down below. Shakti joins Wotan on these excursions to the netherworld, but Gaudi is afraid and won't join his pals.
After their exciting trip "down below" Shakti gets her long hair brushed. These longhaired dachshunds require a lot more upkeep than their smooth haired friends. Don't even ask me about the burrs!
Shakti is a leaper and a lover of heights. Here you can see her leaping high in the air trying to grab ahold of a pair of earmuffs that are shaped like animals.
This is a nice close-up of our boy Wotan holding one of his love objects in his mouth. He plays with these high-bouncing balls for hours every day.
Wotan is shown here carrying one of the stuffed toys he had a brief love affair with. For days he lovingly carried this Snoopy toy around everywhere. Then finally he ripped off all its limbs and gutted it .
Ms. Shakti helps out in the kitchen by cleaning up a spill from the microwave on the countertop. Dachshunds are always willing to help out in the kitchen like this.
On a beach in Oregon, Shakti leaps high in the air for a shell being held up. Shakti and Gaudi are great lovers of the beach. Wotan (who is a short haired dachsie) thinks winter beaches are much too damp and chilly.
To warm up Wotan does activities like digging in the sand. We will throw small rocks for him to chase then when he gets them he will dig a hole and place them in.
