Artists That Deserve A Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Berth
When the idea of a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was announced in the
early 80's, I thought it was a great idea. And since the first batch of
inductees were announced in 1986, I've been interested in who is and who
isn't being inducted. It's the music fan in me that keeps me going when it
comes to the Hall. We all have favorite acts we root for to be inducted.
My biggest complaint with the Hall is the voting process. Who are these
people that get to pick the nominees? What qualifies them? What are
the final vote totals and how come the public never gets to see them? Why
so secretive? And where do the FANS fit in? All the acts below are
eligible for nomination as of 2006. Remember that an acts' first record
had to have been released 25 years ago to be considered for nomination.
Some of these choices will be inducted; some are personal faves that will
never be nominated (hey, we all deserve a few); but others are
frustratingly overlooked. In the end, the Hall Board members have the
final say on who the inductees are. Ratings are based on a 1 (no
chance) to 10 (no-brainer) system. I decided not to go below a 1, because
I like all of these acts. These aren't my numbers, but my predicitions as
to what the Hall voters will do. Eligible years are based on album and
single releases. Those dates may be off a year or two. This page
works best with my Future Inductees
Scorecard. On that page you will see acts that aren't eligible,
their chances of induction and whether I will vote for them or not. Acts
that made records before the Hall's first inductees in 1986 have the year
of their first record listed beside their name.
