LOCAL HISTORY

FIRST NAME

LAST NAME

Originally, Bonner Springs was named Four Houses after a nearby trading post built in the early 1800s by members of the Chouteau family. The post was 20 miles above the mouth of the Kaw.

In the mid 1800s, the name was changed to Tiblow, after long time area resident Henry Tiblow of the Delaware nation. Several of his descendants, including Charles and Barbara TIBLOW, Dwayne and Janice TIBLOW, Ed and Judy (TIBLOW) DATY [all of Skiatook, OK], Lloyd and Betty (TIBLOW) GEORGE of Tulsa, OK, and Mack and Charlene McCAWLEY of Broken Arrow OK, attended the 1998 Centenniel for Bonner Springs.
