On the western border of Missouri, Kansas City, MO faces west toward the eastern border
of Kansas. Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS are separated from each other for a short distance, by the
Kaw (Kansas) River, where it empties into the Missouri River. The Missouri separates the two states to the north. To the south there mostly is no natural division between the two states. Interstate 70 goes east-west and I-35 goes northeast-southwest through both Kansas City MO and Kansas City KS. |

(current news) | What to Expect in the greater Kansas City area: Shopping, dining, museums, amusement parks, professional sports, rennaisance festival, "riverboat" gambling, historic trails, water sports (fishing, boating), hiking, many other attractions and conventions. The Grinter House, over looking the Kansas River at K32 and S 78th Street, will give you a glimpse of this area in the 1860s and after. The Kansas River flows into the Missouri River at Kansas City, where Lewis and Clark Bicentennial programs were held.
