The 51st OVI, Co. B, Inc. is a non-profit living history corporation dedicated to bringing to life the life of the American Civil War soldier by recreating the daily life, camps and battles using the equipment and uniforms of the Federal Infantry Soldier in as authentic manner as possible for the education of the American public.
We are a relatively small organization with 37 members coming mainly from NE Ohio with one member from Wisconsin. We take pride in our quality of members not quantity.
We are now a founding member of The Army of the Ohio as well as members of the Western Brigade, Inc. We are recognized by the IRS as a 501(C)3 non-profit educational corporation and have worked with the National Park Service as well as a variety of state and local historical societies as well as having attended numerous local and national events.
Many of our members have done presentations on the life of the civil war soldier to local schools and civic groups for several years now. We have been in existance since December of 1992.
NOTE..
"We would like to build a list of persons who are living now that have connections to the 51st in the hopes that we can do something special with them in the future. We would someday like to try and have a sort of 'reunion' for those people. "
