This page is dedicated to one of the best Japanese-American
actors we know. Even though he usually ends up playing the bad
guy, his bad guys are multi-dimensional, fascinating and very,
very sexy.
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa was born September 27, 1950 in Japan. He
came to the U.S. as a young child. He studied at the University
of Southern California before deciding to become an actor. He
currently resides in Hawaii with his wife and children. His most
current project (besides his recurring role on 'Nash Bridges')
is a movie deal (he's writing the script) with a film company
in Singapore. For more information, or just to talk C-HT, contact
us at our e-mail address at the bottom of this page. Check back
at this site as we plan to have updates and more information as
it becomes available.
- Danger Zone (1996?) - As yet unreleased (we think)
movie filmed in South Africa. A mining expert stumbles across
a nuclear plot of international proportions.
- The Phantom (1996) - played The Great Kabai Sengh
- Mortal Kombat (1995) - played the bad guy, Shang
Tsung, and he's the best thing in the movie. This is a villain
who dresses well.
- Picture Bride (1995) - played Kanzaki. This film
won the Audience Award at the Robert Redford Sundance Film Festival.
- Soldier Boyz (1995) - played Vinh Moc, a guerrilla
leader. Not a nice guy. But great headband.
- The Dangerous (1994) -
- Natural Causes (1994) - played Somchai, a Thailand
police officer. He's a good guy and gets to kiss the girl and
they both enjoy it.
- Nemesis (1993) - played Angie-Liv. He's wonderful,
as usual, but the movie was strange to say the least. The ending
with the android is worth a watch.
- Rising Sun (1993) - played Eddie, a semi-bad
guy suspected of murder, sings karoke and gets to eat sushi off
a naked girl.
- American Me (1992) - played El Jappo. Not a large
part for him but an interesting little flick
- Kickboxer 2 (1991) - played the "bad guy"
again but dresses well and acts even better.
- The Perfect Weapon (1991) - played Kai. All we
know is that this is a martial-arts movie.
- Showdown In Little Tokyo (1991) - played a Yakuza,
Yoshida, and this movie is well worth the bath scene and a sparkling
performance by Brandon Lee.
- The Last Warrior (1989) - played Imperial Marine
- License to Kill (1989) - played Kwang and we
get to see him in a tux.
- Spellbinder (1988) - played Lt. Lee. A thriller/occult
movie.
- Twins (1988) - played Oriental Man
- The Last Emperor (1987) - played
Chang
- Nash Bridges (1996) - Recurring role as Lt. A.
J. Shimamura. He's great, Don Johnson and Cheech Marin are great.
The show is worth watching and has been renewed for the Fall!!!!
- Babylon 5 (1995) - episode titled 'Convictions',
played Morishi. So far he has done only one episode. Write to
B5 and see if we can get another appearance.
- Thunder in Paradise (1994) - played Mason Lee,
one episode to the best of our knowledge.
- Day of Reckoning (1994) - ???
- Space Rangers (1993) - Recurring role as Zylyn
a member of the Grakka (sp?) race. This is one of the most fun
SF programs around. It only ran 6 episodes but is available on
pro copy. The Sci-Fi channel runs this from time to time. Better
to record your own copies at 2 hr speed as the pro copy is at
4 hour, not the best quality.
- Renegade (1993) - played Hirotaka in the episode
entitled 'Samurai'. The kidnapper of a Japanese banker's daughter
demands the man's chief of security turn himself over with the
ransom in order to settle an old score. Special note, James Shigata
also makes an appearance in this episode!
- Mission of the Shark: The Saga of the U.S.S.
Indianapolis (1991) a.k.a. Mission of the Shark- played Hashimoto
- Not of This World (1991) - made for TV movie
with some funky special effects. Played a good guy for a change!
- Vestige of Honor (1990) - played Thai Major.
An American soldier finds difficulty in freeing his Vietnamese
comrades from a refugee camp
- L.A. Takedown (1989) a.k.a. Made in L.A.- played
Hugh Denny
- Baywatch (1989) - played Mason Sato in the second
season episode entitled 'War of Nerves'. Mr. Sato is an ex-con
and martial arts master who gets to terrorize Mitch, Kaye and
Hobie.
- Wild Jack (1989) - A mini-series? played Mr.
No.
- Alien Nation (1989) - played Yamato in the episode
entitled 'The First Cigar'
- Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) - played
Mandarin Bailiff in the episode 'Encounter at Farpoint'
