What Makes A Dad
.
God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity, The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

As I ponder the love that I saw in his eyes,
A Godly love, given without compromise....
I recall many times that he stood by my side,

I knew there was nothing we couldn't endure.
It's true, a few others provided insight,
Yet, he laid the foundation that kept me upright.
He's the grandest of men to have lived on this earth,
Although he's not royal by stature or birth.
He's a man of great dignity, honor and strength.

He's far greater than all other men that I know,

To Dad With Love

There are all kinds of dads in this world but you are one in a million.
You've raised me, fed me, clothed me, and helped me by showing me
Morals, respect, understanding and love.
Because you have your own unique way of showing your love,
With a simple smile, a hug, a pat on the back --
I can still see that you care.
Although words don't come easily for you and sometimes we sit in silence,
I can feel the warmth of your love and understanding.
I used to wish we had more words to say to each other --
But now I know it's "O.K." because my heart feels that bond we've always had,
The bond that will never be broken. Dad, I just want to say thank you
For being such an important part of my life.

Roles - and How We Play Them

Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and
think about little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part
in a school play. His mother told me that he had his heart set
on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen. On
the day the parts were announced, I went with her to collect
him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining, with
pride and excitement. "Guess what, Mum," he shouted, and then
said those words that remain a lesson to me: "I've been chosen
to clap and cheer."

A man was taking his wife, who was pregnant with twins,
to the hospital when his car went out of control and crashed.
Upon regaining consciousness, he saw his brother, a relentless
world-class practical joker, sitting at his bed side.

He asked his brother how his wife was and his brother replied,
"Don't worry, everybody is fine....and you have a son and a daughter.
But the hospital was in a real hurry to get the birth certificates filed and
since both you and your wife were unconscious, I named them for you."

The husband was thinking to himself, "Oh no, what has he done now?"
and said with trepidation, "Well what did you name them?"

The brother replied, "I named the little girl Denise."

The husband, relieved, said, "That's a very pretty name!

What did you come up with for my son?"

The brother replied, "Denephew."

Comforting Angel

An Angel kissed my tears away
today when I was sad
I wasn't feeling quite myself
my day had been so bad

I felt a warmth brush by me
that quickly dried my tears
A gentle, kind, and loving touch
that seemed to hold me near.

Immediately, I felt so much better
and the day seemed brighter too
I guess that's just the way you feel
when an Angel comforts you...

received this week. It's been a very special week for me.

A special wish for you single Dad's alone raising your kids.

And for those of you, like me, who's Father has passed away,

CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE BROWNIES

2 Sticks Softened Butter or Margarine
3 oz. Softened Cream Cheese
2 Cups Sugar
3 Eggs
1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
3/4 Cup Cocoa
1/4 Tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 Tsp. Salt
3/4 Cup Chopped Nuts

Heat Oven to 325' - Grease the bottom of a 13x9x2
Baking Pan. In a Mixer Bowl, beat Butter, Cream
Cheeese, & Sugar until it is light & fluffy. Add the
Eggs & Vanilla; Beat Well. In a Bowl stir together Flour,
Cocoa, Baking Powder, & Salt; Gradually add to the Butter
Mixture, Blending well. Stir in the Nuts. Spread batter
into the prepared backing pan. Bake for 35-40 Min. or
just until the Brownies pull from the sides of the pan.
Cool completely on a Wire Rack. Cut into bars.
Makes 3 Dozen

Quick Summer Drink Recipe

Orange Smoothie
(makes 4 to 5 servings)

¤ 2 cups milk ¤ 1 can 6oz frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
¤ 1/4 cup sugar ¤ 1 tsp vanilla extract ¤ 6 - 8 ice cubes

Place milk, orange juice, sugar, vanilla, and ice cubes in the container of
an electric blender. Cover and blend on high speed until ice cubes are
crushed and mixture is well combined. Serve immediately and enjoy!

COMPUTER TIPS
In your WINDOWS folder, you'll find a text file called TIPS.TXT full of tips
and tricks written by the Microsoft's Windows 95 development team.

Save your mouse!
Here's a nifty little thought experiment you can do right at home.
How often do you choose a command--from within any Windows 95 program
that opens a dialog box in which you immediately click the OK button, without
doing anything else? For example, how often do you choose File + Print
and then instantly click OK? Or choose Insert +Page Break and just
click OK? You probably do it a lot. Now ask yourself this next question:
How much wear and tear on your mouse could you save if, when you
opened one of these dialog boxes, the pointer was already pointing
right at the OK button? Well, let's say you have to move the pointer two
inches to get to the OK button every time you print. Then let's say you
print an average of six times per day. That's one foot per day, times
200 working days per year--you'd save 200 feet of mouse movement
per year just while printing. (That's equivalent to NOT pushing your
mouse from one end of the corridor to the other!)
Well, guess what: You CAN experience this savings:
1. Click Start.
2. Choose Settings + Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Mouse icon.
4. If you have a standard mouse, click the General tab;
if you have an Intellipoint mouse, click the Step Savers tab.
5. Select Snap To and then click OK.
From now on, whenever you open a dialog box in ANY Windows 95 program, the mouse pointer automatically moves to point at the dialog box's default button--the button with the darker border (usually OK or Save or Print) when you first open the dialog box. You'll work faster--and have one happy mouse.

"Thank you" is one of those wonderful phrases people
use to express a special gratitude. But there's often
a lot more to it than those two words can say.

When it comes from the heart, from deep inside the
nicest feelings and the most special thoughts, "Thank you"
means so much. It means thank you for taking the time
to show that you care. It means "you really made my day,"
and sometimes it means that you really make all the days
so much better. It means you make me feel so nice, and
I wish I could do the same for you just by letting you know
how much you mean to me.
