[Ken Kesey] [Allen Ginsberg] [Neal Cassady] [Women Beats] [Richard Farina] [Lawrence Ferlinghetti] [Gary Snyder] [Beat Books]

In truth, no Beats, no Sixties, in the sense of the countercultural currents that gained ascendancy in the Sixties. Take a look at not only some of the Beat writers, but also the milieu of the Fifties they were trying to change, and the subsequent influence of these ideas on the Sixties.

WOMEN BEATS
Just because they aren't getting the electron time on the Web, doesn't mean they weren't an integral part of the Beat movement. Some were poets and writers, some were not. All were going against the Fifties and early Sixties grain in one way or another, with the additional obstacle of sexism to overcome. Most have outlived the men, as well. These are just a few.
