Welcome to the page where you'll find some information about me personally -- aside from what you've already discovered if you've wandered around the rest of the site, that is.
You've already met my "kids" over in the Animals/Pets area, but for those of you who haven't visited there yet, let me quickly introduce them to you. My girls are Missy, a Shih-Tzu born on New Year's Day of 1992, and Taffy, a long-haired Chihuahua born in April 1995. They are my soul companions, and are very much bonded to me.
I'm down to one cat now: Marmaduke is our oldest boy, an orange marmalade who came home with us on our anniversary in 1988 at about 6 weeks of age. Bray named him, and he definitely lives up to the name! He has quite the personality and is so much fun. Even now he runs and tears through the house chasing who knows what.
For those of you who have visited this page before, you'll remember that Frosty was our petite little girl, a semi-long haired grey with frosting of orange and a tiny bit of white. I learned in later years that she was what is called a dilute tortie, and boy did she manifest all the quirks and personality of a tortie! She was about 18 months younger than her brother, Marmie, and came to live with us just before Halloween that year and was about 6 weeks old when we got her. You'll have already noticed that I'm speaking of her in past tense; yes, she has left us and gone to Rainbow Bridge. She had quite a life and moved four times with me. Not a record, but still impressive (Marmie has moved with me 5 times so far; Taffy, in her prior incarnation with me, moved 8 times). Frosty took each move in stride as well as dealing with a recurring, chronic urinary tract problem. Each time she had a flare-up, we treated it and I loved her back to health. But after my move in May of 2002 (with my girls, Marmie and Frosty), she began to decide that she'd really had enough. Finally this past January (2003), she chose to leave; and Mother came to get her and escort her to the Rainbow Bridge. Not too surprising, I suppose, she's been back to visit several times since, which is such a comfort.
We also had two other boys which I had "inherited" from my mother: Buffy-cat, a very dilute orangish color which is almost a soft cinnamon-beige color, and Patches, a fat orange and white spirit. They were both born in 1987. Mother loved her kitties, and it was a "given" that I would become their surrogate mom. The odd thing is that they actually lived with me longer (10 years) than they did with Mother (5 years) and yet they were always "Mother's kitties" to me. Well, in January and February of last year (2002), Mother came to "take her kitties home" just one month apart. So they, too, are at Rainbow Bridge.
There are pictures of most all of our kids in the Family Photo Album. Since Missy and Taffy are such good "models," there are probably more of them than anyone else. But there are some of the rest including the two boys that Bray has: Buffy, an English Cocker, and Bear, a cock-a-poo, whom we also inherited from my folks.
So, for those of you who've been keeping count, we had 7 "kids" that shared our home when we moved into the 5-bedroom, 2-story house. We bought it and moved in December of 1994 from a small 2-bedroom apartment. Yes, we had 7 animals in that apartment! And it was just 6 months after the move that Taffy came back to make the total 8: 4 cats and 4 dogs! Anyway, it took us a solid week to move all the furniture and boxes from the little 2-bedroom apartment we'd been living in. . . . and the 8' x 10' storage room we'd been renting. We were exhausted after that! Bray was glad to go back to work, and I started slowly and gradually beginning to unpack and trying to put things to rights around there. Would you believe that eight years later, when I moved out of there, I still had boxes that I hadn't unpacked?
I've already alluded to someone who was very special in my life for many years, and who is still a friend. Bray has been through a lot with me and at times was the person who kept me sane, well-grounded, and buoyed up! Bray and I were married in May of 1987. My first, but not his. He has a son, but aside from our "kids" we were not meant to have children this lifetime. I've come to understand that my focus is on my work with Spirit. Something that still mystifies Bray.
Bray still has a non-stop record of square dancing. It's his one interest in life. When he and I met he was literally dancing seven nights a week. Part of his involvement in square dancing has also been when he 'angels' for beginner's lessons every fall and winter to help teach the beginners the moves. We've danced all over the state of Arizona, in a casino in Laughlin, Nevada, a few places in California, and in August of 1997 we added Colorado to the list! We also had the wonderful experience of going to the National Square Dance Festival in Anaheim, California in 1988 which included a chance to square dance in Disneyland.
For awhile we took Round Dance lessons. While there are a few purely Round Dances, they are more often held in conjunction with Square Dances: one or two Rounds are danced between each "tip" of square dancing with about 30 minutes of rounds before the square dancing starts. Round Dancing is similar to Ballroom Dancing, except that with this you have a "cuer" who calls each of the steps just before you dance it. Each Round Dance is a set of dance steps in a particular pattern and done to many types of music and songs. Waltz, Two-Step, Cha-Cha, and Fox Trop to name a few. I love to dance, and I still enjoy Round Dancing far more than Square Dancing.
As I began to open up again to my soul path and my work with Spirit, my interest in square dancing dwindled. Our square dancing as a couple had already weathered bouts of being at a bare minimum several times because of health issues. And, as I said above, I really enjoyed the round dancing so much more. For many reasons, I've come full circle back to being away from square dancing. One of my dreams, however, is to learn to dance without a cuer and take up dancing in other venues.
Last year Bray and I separated; I moved out the first of May (2002) and took my girls and 2 kitties with me. The details are unimportant to most so I'll simply say that a large factor is that I have chosen to move forward along my soul path and spiritual journey. The work I do is so important and brings so much joy and peace into my life and to those whose paths I cross. I'm here to teach and share; heal and be healed; facilitate learning and grow; and be a conduit for Spirit.
Bray doesn't really understand any of that. He's been interested. . . . to a point. He's been supportive. . . . to a point. Until we finally reached a point in our relationship that we both had major choices to make. I chose to return to full awareness and work with Spirit; he chose to return to his unconscious movement through life. For me, while it truly was a soul choice and in that respect was an easy choice, it was also extremely difficult. Many will understand what I mean. And while I feel sadness for what might have been, I truly do not regret the choices I have made.
So my life and my work go forward, and I am infinitely blessed. And for the first time in many, many years I feel a peace and joy that reaches to the depths of my soul. To a depth that I probably would never have guessed I could experience. I am in a place of peace, joy and contentment that I had never even imagined in my entire life. And while I have truly "come home" to Spirit, my life now is the journey and the adventure and joy of that journey one step at a time.
You'll see from your wanderings around my site, that I have a lot of interests! Too many probably, but I still enjoy all of them. Some interests have come and gone through the years, and some of those listed below get put on the shelf for months at a time, but I don't think I'd be totally happy without a few dozen irons in the fire at one time. So I keep adding to, rearranging, and digging out all this "stuff" to occupy my time with.
Yes, in my last move, I weeded through a lot of the "stuff" and sorted through most of the boxes (although there are still some that haven't been completely gone through or unpacked from 3 moves ago!). And, as most of you can identify with, there is still a significant amount of weeding through, sorting, throwing away, etc. that can be done and will be done before my next move.

I guess my motto was, "if we don't need it, what's the hurry?"
Bray has been Square Dancing for over 30 years now (he started as a young teenager!), and I've square danced off-and-on more than 25 years myself. I took lessons, and thoroughly enjoyed dancing for a couple of years before life got in the way. The last time I decided to take it up again, was in 1987. I kept putting off going to my "first square dance" back until one night I just knew it was the time to go! So I got dressed, and went. . . and met Bray! That was in January. We didn't run into each other again for about a month. From there on, though, it was a heavenly adventure. With a "stop off" for our marriage in May, it was quite an adventure for 15 years!
