The MasonicTemple, Largs
Previous Meeting Places
The earliest reference in the Lodge minute books noting the lodge meeting place is dated 1892 and states that the lodge met in a room of the Brisbane Arms Hotel, now the George Hotel, in Largs.
The lodge then briefly moved to "Mrs Flarty's Freemasons Arms"
In 1866 the lodge rented the Baking Society's hall for a yearly rental of £1.00 This hall was probably the Bath Hall, Bath St Largs, opposite Clark Memorial Church.
The Lodge continued to use this hall until
1870 before relocating to Hunters Hall. It would appear from notes in the minute that this hall had been used in the past by the lodge and may even have been used in 1789 when a meeting was held in Tron Place, Largs. - The location of Hunters Hall.
During the year 1873 the lodge moved again, this time to Victoria Hall, Nelson Street, Largs
and which is accessed by a pend opposite the Smugglers Bar.
1875 saw the building of a new Artillery Hall in Brisbane Street, Largs and the lodge agreed to rent rooms there.
All these moves proved a requirement for more permanent accommadation and the lodge set about building a temple.
