FOR OPINTIONS, SUGGESTIONS AND ANY COMMENTS REGARDING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW SITE.
THE NEW SITE CONTAINS A NEW MESSAGE BOARD FOR VISITORS TO POST QUESTIONS AND HOPEFULLY HELP OTHERS WITH THEIR OWN.
THIS IS AN ASPECT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE GROW,

Update: 2/12/04 : 7:35 pm Check out some new pages on the Family Sites Page. More will be added as soon as I can find added source for web space. Seems, I've overloaded my own AOL server. Also, I've added a link to Photos of Virginia Indians at the bottom of this page. |

Before traveling
beyond on this page, I would like you to visit and read a wonderful poem that
sums up all the work I've put forth to creat this page, thank you!

of the page also.
These can be used as tools to assist in genealogy research.

Summary:
This page contains many different avenues of genealogy research. I began reseaching
my own family after my son was born nearly 13 years ago.
Having no luck finding any of my ancestor's names in the mainstream genealogy
texts, I started to consider the family's contention that we descended from
Indians in Virginia. Never knowing much about the family or it's history...
and the seemingly lack of knowledge or recall from my own elders about our
roots, left me wondering exactly where and who we descended from, pushing
me into researching more and more about our past. I discovered more than I
ever dreamed about my family and the conditions of the Southeastern United
States.
"Tri Racial" is a catch-phrase. It's not a technical measure
of identity, but helps categorize the three major races that contributed to
such a muddled history during the early periods, (and even later ones), of
some American families ancestry; White, Native-American and African American.
These
pages also offer differing points of view and conflicting claims. This is
not to be a reflection regarding my view-points, but the offering that all
avenues and considerations be used in researching this type of genealogy.
There are many who may not wish to claim a mixed ancestry; but as a person
that has read and studied so much information, there is only one conclusion...
that my family descended from African American, Indian and White ancestors.

If
you're here for research, then I'll skip my family's story and let you get
on your way
to researching your own.
But, let me tell you that many of the families that were caught in this situation
are far more
connected by history than bloodline.
Hints to your research may be found in my own and other's research and what
we have learned along the way.

"It's
not your blue bood, your pedigree or your college degree. It's what
you do with your life that counts." |
I've
decided to keep the title page simple, for those just looking for links and
assistance.
For those who may have similar circumstances and questionable doubts about
their ancestry,
might want to examine my own research discoveries and what they have led me
to find.
Those who are interested in searching further tri-racial and confusing family
histories, (such as my own) . .. proceed by clicking this link.
Special thanks goes to many who have helped me on this
long journey with or without their knowledge;
Helen Rountree, Virginia DeMarce, Charles Byrd, Paul Heinegg, Angela Walton,
Christine Charity,
Ellie Hill, and many Virginia Librarians.. and the one who pointed
me in the right direction from the beginning...
Selma Stewart.
