THE MOST PRECIOUS GIFT |
My hands were busy through the day.
I didn't have much time to play
The little games you asked me to.
I didn't have much time for you.
I'd wash your clothes, I'd sew, and cook,
But when you'd bring your picture book
And ask me please to share your fun,
I'd say, "A little later, son."
I'd tuck you in all safe at night
And hear your prayers and turn out the light,
Then tiptoe softly to the door . ...
I'd wish I'd stayed a minute more.
For life is short, the years rush past . ...
A little boy grows up so fast.
No good night kiss, no prayers to hear . ...
That all belongs to yesteryear.
My hands, once busy now are still
The days are long and hard to fill.
I wish I could go back and do
All the little things you asked me to.
You're all grown up now and on your own.
You've become a sailor, but you're never all alone.
With you go my prayers and love,
And God will watch you from above.
Each time we have to say good-bye
I wipe a tear from my eye.
As much as I long for yesteryear,
Pride fills my heart with cheer.
The hardest thing a mother has to do is --
Wipe the tears from her eyes
And the years from her heart,
When her little boy becomes a man!

THE ONES WE LOVE |
To give him your heart
is to give him everything
Always aware of the consequences of the path he travels down.
He wounds you with his love, without intending to do so.
Sleepless nights, tears of joy and sorrow, fear of loss,
Knowing distance, longing for him to be more
than a voice over the phone lines,
All come with loving him.
It's the price you pay for the dreams he lives,
The defender of a nation, the protector of the flag.
Mothers, wives, sweethearts, and loved ones
all say the same prayer every night,
"God, please protect our men in uniform ...." |
|

GOD, BLESS OUR MEN AND
WOMEN IN UNIFORM ! |
