United States Cities 1853 Originally issued in 1853 by H. Phelps & Co. for information in Fanning's Illustrated Gazetter of the United States, These city maps were the first octavo size maps designed specifically for a U. S. gazetter. Each map shows most streets and where indicated, the important ward boundaries. Ideal for the instructor and field researcher alike, these maps were originally designed at the time of the 1850 Census, a critical time for the genealogist.
