Track
Bad Penny Blues
by Humphrey Lyttleton
UK: Parlophone R 4184

George Martin may have produced it but the
the man responsible for its unique sound is
the engineer, a young Joe Meek. This 1956 track
reached number 19 in the UK charts. Its piano riff
would later be the inspiration for the Beatles
Lady Madonna
Hear it Hear!
Little Lonely One
by Tom Jones
UK: Columbia DB 7566
US: Tower 126

Tom Jones had a sting of hits from 1965
through to the present day but they came after
he left the guiding hand of Joe. This track comes
from the first of 2 singles produced by Joe and released
in 1965. While not hits in the US or UK they stand as a
prime example of the RGM sound.
Hear it Hear!
I Can't Stop
by The Honeycombs
US: Interphon IN-7713

This track was released in this version as a single
on the A side of the Honeycombs' follow up to
Have I the Right. It was the group's only US single
to come in a picture sleeve. A very different version can be
found on the CD The Joe Meek Story The Pye Years
