Welcome to my page. This is where interested parties can read
about what goes on behind the scenes. You can hear my complaints,
my compliments, my comments and hopefully, help me out when I
need you. Things are moving pretty fast at Wittmann Antique Militaria
and I have my hands full with the office work as well as this
web...thing.....! But I really do enjoy writing this page and
making it available to you guys. I hope you enjoy viewing it as
much as I enjoy bringing it to you....Let me know your thoughts,

No more Wittmann Offering
Well, the big news is that we have decided to discontinue our printed catalog -- no more Wittmann Offerings! As many of you know, we have been trying to get List #43 put together and out to the printer for how long now? A year? Yes, I think it has been a good year. Well, everytime we think we have it ready we find we have so many Internet sales that we have to go back and re-edit the catalog. After editing it over five times in the last year, we just plain gave up! The Internet sales are keeping us so busy that to put out a catalog with only about 40% of the items in it actually available and at a cost of $20000.00 each, is ridiculous. So, we conceed. We bow to the power of the Internet.
Added staff and computers
To help keep up with the Internet we have added a new staff person -- Fred Schaefer. Actually, Fred used to work with us a couple of years ago until we ran out of things for him to do. That won't happen this time around as I have plenty of things he can help me with! Fred has been back for about six months and has given in to the idea of using a computer. We just purchased a nice system for him and I am training him to prepare the files that were going to go in catalog for the Internet instead. There are lots of small, tedious things that must be done so that when the files go online, you can view them. You would not believe what goes on behind the pages you view on screen. Sometime, for a laugh, call up one of our pages and right click once. When the menu comes up, click "View source" and take a look at what we type in order for you to view the finished product! Ahhhh, now you see why it takes so long!
Anyway, with Fred helping and Dean & Jodi doing the photos and the dictation, that leaves me to the final editing and uploading of the text pages. I hope you like the new format. Haven't seen it yet? Take a look at the Forestry Cutlasses and you will see what I mean. We are using a "thumbnail" photo as the photo link on each item. Just click it and you will get to the larger page of photos that you are used to looking at.
Now, a word of advice.....if the thumbnail photo is just a box with an "x" in it, there are no photos uploaded yet. So don't bother trying to click it -- you won't get where you want to be! Only click if there is a photo in the box.
Facelift
We are also getting a facelift. Our webpages will be changing drastically in the next three months. I know you have heard that before, but now that we don't have to worry about the catalog, we can put all of our time and effort into the website. So look for many new changes coming soon.
