Brian and Kevin Tignor have acute
lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in remission. Siblings with leukemia are very
rare, although their risk is greater than the general population. This picture
was taken the summer of 1995, before the nightmare began.

Brian was diagnosed on May 3, 1996. He went into remission and has fought this
disease with courage and a fantastic sense of humor. He has had a very rough
treatment, but kept a great attitude and played lots of pranks on the nurses in
the hospital (hey, you gotta have SOME fun, right?!!) Brian finished treatment
at the end of November 1998, one week early due to pancreatitis. He
currently has check-ups every six months and feels good! He will enter his senior year of high school
in September 2002. He has been driving
a year (he’ll be 17 in August). We are
so thankful he has fully recovered!
Kevin was also diagnosed with ALL on February 10, 1998 at the age of
4-1/2. He underwent very similar
treatment to Brian’s, and had very different side effects (thank God they weren’t
as severe). Kevin will enter 4th
grade in September, and is now a happy and healthy almost-9-year-old! In August, Kevin will be off-treatment for 2
years. We look forward to reaching his
5 year mark!

Both boys enjoy sports. Brian also loves playing guitar, drawing (he has won
awards for his artwork), waterskiing, snow skiing, rollerblading,
skateboarding, camping & swimming. His dream was to be a scuba diver and/or
an artist. Here is a pic taken during his scuba certification class in July
of 1998:
Brian (and all of us!) went on his Make-A-Wish trip just after
Christmas of ‘98. Click here to see some pictures of our fabulous scuba

Kevin is our Babe Ruth in the making! He has been whacking any pitch that comes
his way since he was 2 years old! He loves
swimming, computer games, Nintendo 64, playing with his friends, clowning
around and drawing. He handed his treatments better than we imagined, and
hasn't lost his energy. He certainly keeps the doctors and nurses on their
toes!
Our wonderful family, friends, neighbors and coworkers have made this nightmare
bearable. We have been blessed with every kind of support. We thank God for
every day we have with our children, and try not to sweat the small stuff
anymore. The following pictures were
taken a few years ago, during the boys’ ordeal.
Brian doing what makes Mom cringe!!
Last summer, we were looking forward to putting the terrible chapter behind us. Both boys were the picture of health again. These aren't the best pics -- I took a picture of a picture, with a digital camera!

To celebrate Kevin's remission, we
went out
to dinner at one of his favorite places, and he
got to order whatever he wanted. Little did we
know that he just wanted to take the lobster
home for a pet!!

Brian is looking forward to growing
up.
He wants to be a scuba diver and an artist.
Kevin, just after induction. He now has very
little hair left, but won't let me near him with
a camera! Right now he is feeling good
and regaining some of that energy he's known for!

before
Kevin got sick. Dad's beard didn't last very long!
This was taken May 22, when Kevin
decided he wanted this haircut!! He's such a ham.
And this one was on May 23,
at a cousin's wedding.
They look quite healthy, don't they?

While we were there, the Child
Life Dept.
had their annual party in the atrium!
