My name is Debra Harlander. I am the wife of Cris, and the mother of Mark and Ryan. I live in a small village in the heart of Central NY State. I am a medical transcriptionist by trade, but have been unable to work since 10/98 due to illness.
I am one of the founding members of the Pheochromocytoma Support Group. In July of 1998 I posted a message to an endocrine board hoping to find at least one other person who had been diagnosed with pheochromocytoma or a related illness. I checked the board everyday, sometimes twice a day, hoping and praying I was not alone. Then, a message was posted, and another and another. We decided from that point to start having private chats once a week. This was all well and good, but we knew that there was so much more we could do. We had wonderful support among one another, but we knew there were others that needed this. That is where our beloved Mary (ThreePeb@aol.com) stepped in. With her talent and love she created our Web Page, which opened us up to the entire Internet community. Since the development of this support group I have met so many wonderful people.
There are some special people in my life
that I need to thank, and that have made a difference in my life. Their kindness
and compassion have never gone unnoticed. First and foremost I want to thank
my Lord Jesus Christ for all He has done for me. My husband Cris and my two
sons Mark, for without their love and support I do not know where I would
be. My Dad and Mom, my sisters, my brother and their spouses. Dr. Doug Miller
and his wife Susan, Dr. Dan, Dr. Lebowitz, and the staff in his office
(especially Ellen and Doreen), Dr. Streeten, Dr. Barker, Dr. Nizam, Dr. Simon,
Dr. Battaglia, Dr. J. Walker and Lynn, Dr. J. O'Brien, Dr. K. Pacak, Dr.
J. Bayley, Father Larry, Father John, Carol and Chuck and my adopted Cox
family, Chris and Bob and Brian, Gabby, Morgan & Sami, my wonderful friend
Valerie (maybe we will finally meet this year), my dear friends Lisa W.,
Mary P., June H., Wes, Mary K. whom I love with all my heart. There are many
other others in my life to thank, and have touched my life, I thank God for
each and every person that has ever crossed my path.
MY MOTTO - We cannot appreciate the sunshine in our lives if we never experience the storms.
