"It is an offense to the human spirit for any group to impose their beliefs as the one true way and to tell people to reject and hate themselves and each other because they do not fit a certain mold."

Due to popular request, I've abandoned the old background for a more legible one. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. For those of you who were lucky enough to miss the confusing background, welcome to the rough outlines of my updated site! (You can still check out the old one, which I've put out of its misery.) Whereas the last one was pretty much a fill-in-the-blanks page, I decided to get responsible and learn HTML. (Translation: if this looks messed-up, let me know and I'll dig around in here and fix it.) Thanks!

Unless you know me already, you're probably thinking, "Who is this person, anyway?" I'm Rebecca, a teenager in the San Francisco Bay Area. I go to Lick-Wilmerding High School (Lick and Wilmerding are two last names). I'm interested in pretty much everything, especially acting (theatrical), playing the guitar, black and white photography, shaolin kempo (karate), and programming, which I've just begun to learn about. I speak English, as you may have guessed by now, Japanese, and American Sign Language (a mix of Midwestern, Texan, and Californian dialects). I usually carry a capo, two guitar picks, keys on a cat ID tag, lip balm, and a pen in my pockets. (Stop giving me that "you're-being-random" look! The contents of one's pockets can actually tell you a lot about a person! *sulks defensively in corner, quietly singing "a tisket, a tasket" while rocking back and forth*)

Comics

Recently, my friend Kat introduced me to the wonderfully intelligent, creative world of alternative comics. (Fun fact: the above photo of me was taken by Julian at Alternative Press Expo 1999 in March.) Here's what Marvel and DC Comics never opened your eyes to:

Slave Labor Graphics, publishers of such family favorites as Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Squee, Awkward, and Gloom Cookie.
