Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, and the Tin Woodman

The plot of The Dinamonster of Oz has to do with yet another attempt of the Nome King to conquer Oz. First he steals the Metachron, which is filled with captured lightning and which controls time in Oz. Then the Nome King attacks Oz with the Dinamonster, which is a sort of giant walking office building. When it steps on people, as it does with some frequency, they are captured within the lower floors of the building. Dorothy and other main characters are taken prisoner by the Dinamonster and carried off to the Nome King's dominions. Fortunately, accompanying them is a brave lad named Tripp, who has arrived from Omaha in his "rocket plane." Tripp saves the day over and over through his ingenuity and his skill in handling the plane; but it takes Ozma's intervention at the end of the book to bring peace back to Oz. Kenneth Baum had a genuine narrative gift.
