Tomb With A View is the first and only newsletter of it's kind.
We are dedicated to serve historic cemeteries by recognizing and preserving their artistic, horticultural, and heritage aspects through appreciation, community awareness, and restoration efforts.
In other words, we don't "do" genealogy, spooky stuff, or oddball topics just to get attention.
Still want to send something in? Here's how ~~
Submitting an Article ~~
Articles published in Tomb With A View must be of interest to readers all over the United States. Suggested topics may include: interviews or profiles of people or cemeteries, large scale preservation or restoration efforts, art in cemeteries, or coverage of significant cemetery anniversaries or celebrations. If you have any other ideas, please ask! We're always interested in something new!
Article length: 1000 - 1300 words
Photographs: 2-3 may be submitted that convey the message of the story. Photographs can be returned if a SASE is included.
Deadlines: February 1 (Spring), May 1 (Summer), August 1 (Autumn), November 1 (Winter)
Submission Method: Snail-mail is still preferred, especially for photographs. Although it is acceptable to send attached files via email, we need to know what program/format you are sending it in. Transfers from any Mac format are unacceptable.
Recompense: National exposure in a respected publication.
Please note! It is advisable to contact the Editor before submitting an article. We can be somewhat flexible in subject, deadlines, etc. The Editor reserves all rights to edit as necessary for content, clarity and space.
Submitting Tour/Event Information ~~
Required Information:
Event category (e.g., walking tour, slide presentation, exhibit)
Location (please include address, city, state)
Date(s)
Time (beginning time and duration)
Brief description
Contact person AND phone number
Other helpful information: Meeting location (if other than the main gate or office), fees/reservation requirements (assumed free if none stated), additional dates/raindates, sponsoring organization.
The Tomb With A View Calendar of Events is on-going -- if it is known that an event will take place during a specific month, but the date isn't firm yet, please send whatever information is available as soon as possible and be sure to include a phone number to call for more details. The important thing is to let the public know that something special will be coming up. Anyone who is interested in attending can then follow-up directly with the organization holding the event.
There is absolutely no fee for listing events on the calendar, however, beginning or renewing a subscription is always greatly appreciated.
Snail-mail submissions: Tomb With A View, PO Box 24810, Lyndhurst, OH 44124-0810
