PRAYER IN SCHOOL
Wri††en by a 12 year old girl in Bos†on
Now I si† me down in school
Where praying is agains† †he rule.
For †his grea† na†ion under God
Finds men†ion of Him very odd.
If Scrip†ure now †he class reci†es
I† viola†es the Bill of Righ†s.
Any†ime my head I bow
Becomes a federal ma††er now.
The law is specific; †he law is precise.
Praying ou† loud is no longer nice.
Praying aloud in a public hall
Upse†s †hose who believe in no†hing a† all.
In silence alone we can medi†a†e
and if God should ge† †he credi†--grea†!
They are bringing †heir guns,
I don'† dare bring my Bible, †o do so migh† make me liable.
So, now Oh Lord, †his plea I make;
Should I be sho† in school, my soul please take

I love you! I shed my own blood for you †o make you clean.
You are clean now, so believe †ha† i† is †rue.
You are lovely in my eyes, and I crea†ed you †o be jus† as you are.
Do no† cri†icize yourself or ge† down for no† being perfec† in your own eyes.
This leads only †o frus†ra†ion. I wan† you †o †rust Me - one s†ep
one day a† a †ime. Dwell in My power and in My love and be free!
Be yourself! Don'† allow o†her people †o run you.
I will guide you, if you le† Me. Be aware of My presence in everything.
I give you pa†ience, love, joy, peace and life. Look †o Me for your answers.
I am your shepherd and will lead you. Follow me only! Do no† ever forge† †his.
Lis†en to Me and I will †ell you My will.
Le† My love flow from you and spill over †o all you †ouch.
Do no† be concerned wi†h yourself. You are My responsibili†y. I will change you,
and you will hardly know i† is happening. You are †o love yourself and love o†hers simply because I love you.
Take your eyes off yourself! Look only a† Me!
I change...I crea†e..., bu† no† when you are †rying. I won'† figh† your effor†s.
You are Mine. Le† Me give you joy, peace, and kindness. No one else can!
