Ukrainian Alphabet, Transliterations, and Pronunciation

The Ukrainian alphabet consists of 33 sounds letters.  Some of the sounds represented by these letters are comparable to sounds in English.  Others are quite unique and as such should be mastered by the student of the Ukrainian following is a language.  The list of the Ukrainian Letters, their Transliterations, and English words with comparable sounds.

This letter by itself does not have a sound. It is called myakyy' znak - soft sign.
Consonant Icons
Its function is to make the pronunciation very soft of the preceding consonants.
