"There can be no lasting religious peace on Urantia until all religious groups freely surrender all their notions of divine favor, chosen people, and religious sovereignty."

"Only when God the Father becomes supreme will men become religious brothers and live together in religious peace on earth."

"Religious teachers must always remember that the spiritual sovereignty of God overrides all intervening and intermediate spiritual loyalties. Someday civil rulers will learn that the Most Highs rule in the kingdoms of men."

"This rule of the Most Highs in the kingdoms of men is not for the special benefit of any especially favored group of mortals. There is no such thing as a "chosen people." The rule of the Most Highs, the overcontrollers of political evolution, is a rule designed to foster the greatest good to the greatest number of all men and for the greatest length of time."
P. 1487-88 - The Urantia Book

The world's peoples could never hope to achieve intellectual uniformity on religious matters.  Varying religious ideology is inevitable, and advancing Democracy must always make allowance for such variances.

However, when one man's religious ideology constitutes a threat to another man's well-being, even to his life, then moral righteousness demands an intervention.  If human vanguards of goodness and righteousness who value spirit unity are compelled to step in to defend the right of existence of peace-loving detractors against the genocidal acts of zealots who are propelled by grossly misguided and tradition-bound religious ideology, how much more prepared, even foreseeing, are the many orders of Spirit Vanguards, whose role it is to safeguard and nurture the progress of human civilization on the planet, to provide an adequate compass to a struggling humanity that should eventually find itself floundering in an ideological quagmire?

Such a compass has existed on our planet since 1936, and has been spreading quietly from person-to-person as the text of the Urantia Book since it was first published in 1955.  The time may well be approaching in the course of our planet's history when this compass may become significant upon the main stage of world affairs.

"Jesus does not require his disciples to believe in him but rather to believe with him, believe in the reality of the love of God and in full confidence accept the security of the assurance of sonship with the heavenly Father. The Master desires that all his followers should fully share his transcendent faith. Jesus most touchingly challenged his followers, not only to believe what he believed, but also to believe as he believed. This is the full significance of his
one supreme requirement,
"Follow me."
P. 2089 -- The Urantia Book

"The time is ripe to witness the figurative resurrection of the human Jesus from his burial tomb amidst the theological traditions and the religious dogmas of nineteen centuries. Jesus of Nazareth must not be longer sacrificed to even the splendid concept of the glorified Christ. What a transcendent service if, through this revelation, the Son of Man should be recovered from the tomb of traditional theology and be presented as the living Jesus to the church that bears his name, and to all other religions! Surely the Christian fellowship of believers will not hesitate to make such adjustments of faith and of practices of living as will enable it to "follow after" the Master in the demonstration of his real life of religious devotion to the doing of his Father's will and of consecration to the unselfish service of man. Do professed Christians fear the exposure of a self-sufficient and unconsecrated fellowship of social respectability and selfish economic maladjustment? Does institutional Christianity fear the possible jeopardy, or even the overthrow, of traditional ecclesiastical authority if the Jesus of Galilee is reinstated in the minds and souls of mortal men as the ideal of personal religious living? Indeed, the social readjustments, the economic transformations, the moral rejuvenations, and the religious revisions of Christian civilization would be drastic and revolutionary if the living religion of Jesus should suddenly supplant the theologic religion about Jesus."
