COMMITTEE

Whatever the legal structure or form adopted by your voluntary organisation it will require three or more individuals with overall responsibility for the conduct of your organisation's affairs, for making sure the aims of the organisation are being met, and for ensuring that it remains within budget.

This is the 'voluntary management committee'. In a limited company these individuals may be known as directors, in a trust they will be referred to as trustees. In charities they are, "persons involved in the management or control".

The Management Committee does not receive any remuneration for their involvement with your Organisation, except for the reimbursement of travel expenses to and from committee meetings, or other authorised travel on behalf of the organisation.

The three main committee members are: Convenor, Secretary and Treasurer, however there may be other office bearers on your committee such as Vice-Convenor and Company Secretary. For information on the roles and responsibilities of these office bearers please click on the links.

If you have any queries or questions on being on a committee, committee training or running an organisation then please do not hesitate to contact Helen
