The mission of The Easter Seal Society of Connecticut, Inc. is to promote and assure maximum independence and quality of life for people with disabilities and their families.
Easter Seals provides education, information and advocacy services to the public. We also own and operate Easter Seals Camp Hemlocks, a rustic, barrier-free, year-round camping facility which provides recreational, educational and social programs for children and adults with disabilities and their families.
Six affiliated rehabilitation facilities located throughout the state provide outpatient medical and vocational rehabilitation services.
Camp Hemlocks is located on 160 acres in Hebron, Connecticut (just 25 minutes from Hartford). The camp overlooks Jones Pond and borders the Salmon River Forest.
More than 1,500 children and adults with disabilities such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, traumatic brain injury, quadriplegia, arthritis, and mental retardation are served annually by Easter Seals programs at Camp Hemlocks. Many thousands more benefit from advocacy efforts and the public information and disability awareness materials produced and distributed by The Easter Seal Society of Connecticut, Inc.
Programs are funded through contributions and fees for service. Fees are kept as low as possible to ensure that programs will be available to anyone who needs them, and no Connecticut resident with a disability is denied participation in Camp Hemlocks' programs because of inability to pay the full fee.
