If you are interested in training your stockdog
here are some of the options I offer.
LESSONS
There are three types of lessons available:
Group: These are held on Thursdays only, starting at 10 AM, at the arena. The cost is
$10.00 a dog.
Semi-private: These are held on any day that is available. They can hold up to 15 dogs. The cost is $20-$40 per dog depending on how often we work them.
Private: This is a one on one lesson that lasts up to 2 hours. It is scheduled on days that
are available. The cost is $ 100.00 a dog.
CLINICS
I will also travel to your area to
give a clinic. A minimum of 15 dogs must be entered if it is a clinic away from home. The cost for
these clinics are $50.00 a dog per day and all expenses paid. I can work up to 20 dogs but the
more dogs entered the less time will be available on stock, and the condition of the stock will
determine how many times a dog will be worked each day.
SUMMER CAMP
Summer camp known as Boot Camp is 5 days of intensive handler and dog training. We will
work dogs mornings and afternoons and make lecture tapes in between. Depending on which
camp you are eligible for, I will cover all aspects from starting your dog in the round pen to
making and working the trial course. We will go over all aspects of training your stock dog for
ranch work and trial work. Every working session will be taped and reviewed to see what is done
right and wrong. If there are Ranch chores to be done while you are here we will work them in
also. The tapes that are made during the camp are optional but highly recommended for the first
time campers. The cost for this is $300 a dog, spectators $150. The number of tapes usually runs between 4 and 6
per camp and they cost $ 25.00 a tape. To save a spot in the Camps there is a $100.00 non-refundable deposit unless other arrangements have been made. If you have a self-contained
camper you can stay at the ranch . If not there are several Motel 6's in the area where you can
stay. Make your reservations early because during the summer this is a tourist area.
OUT OF TOWN CAMPS
This is offered at your place for 3 days. I will cover the same areas that are covered at the camps
at the ranch. The maximum number of dogs for a camp is 10 dogs. You will have to supply at
least 30 head of stock. The cost for this is $1800 for three days plus all of my expenses (air fare,
cost to ship dog, food, lodging). Spectators cost is $100. So if you have a group in your area that would like to hold a
camp this is the way to go. Once a date is confirmed a deposit is required. If I am unavailable I will recomend someone who has trained under me for a number of years and who is very capable of instructing a
Windsong camp. The above programs are done on a routine basis however it is possible to design a
program to fit your needs.
