In 1987, Pressurehed was formed in Hollywood, CA by Tommy Grenas and Len Del Rio. Both enjoyed everything-from "Krautrock," spacerock, and electronic, to spy themes, Industrial and garage music.  They produced many cassettes of strange music, and played improvised sets at the now defunct Lechtisternium Club in Los Angeles.  In 1988, they were joined by drummer Paul De Wolf, who disappeared one day, only to return later and discover that he'd been replaced by a drum machine, and Belgian bassist Marc Collignon.  With Tommy on vocals and guitar, Len on keys, rhythm and tronics, and Marc on bass and vocals, they recorded the demos "Wired for Sound," and "Audio Energy."  While opening a show for one of their big influences, British space rock legends Hawkwind, Pressurehed met Brian Perera , who was preparing to start Cleopatra Records.  Pressurehed had a sound that encompassed all he liked, and he soon had them in the studio, working on their debut CD "Infadrone" (1992).  The band toured and began to build a sizeable cult following.  Early in 1993, Marc left, just as Death Ride 69 guitarist Doran Shelley joined the band.

Soon a cassette of new tunes with a somewhat different sound was released, but without bass guitar.  A sequencer was used live. At a gig at L.A.'s famous Jabberjaw club, Tommy met Paul Fox, who had recently left the progressive noise-punk band Trash Can School, and invited him to join Pressurehed.

In summer 1993, "Sudden Vertigo" (the second Pressurehed album) was completed . It was shortly after this that Len and Tommy began a relationship with Hawkwind's  Nik Turner, who suggested that they put down some music on his spoken word album "Sphynx." And that they did, recruiting good friend Helios Creed (CHROME) to help out.  A U.S. tour followed in winter '94, with Len, Tommy, Paul, Helios, Paul Della Pelle (drummer for Helios' band), and Del Dettmar (Hawkwind).  A variety of recordings of this group have been completed.  As if they weren't busy enough, Tommy also began working on a new space rock band,  Farflung;  Len began his solo project, Zero Gravity; Doran worked with garage band Outsideinside; and Paul and Tommy began their electro-acoustic experiment, The Brain.

1996 saw Pressurehed continuing to record with Nik.  Len recorded two Zero Gravity albums with Hawkwind violinist and keyboard player Simon House, and Pressurehed continued submitting tracks to various compilation CDs. The entire band accompanied Nik, Simon House, Alan Powell and Del Dettmar in Japan.  Also, the Anubian Lights had been formed the previous year, beginning basically as Pressurehed's musical obsession with ancient Egyptian mythology and magic, among other things. The 1995 debut album of Anubian Lights is called "Eternal Sky." Also in 1996, Tommy and Paul were fortunate to tour the U.S. with the incredibly prolific German electronic duo, Cluster (Dieter Moebius and Hans Joachim Roedelius).  Just before this, "Access and Amplify," the Brain's first CD was released by Hypnotic Records.   On the tour, the Brain was accompanied by the amazing Bond Bergland (Saqqara Dogs / Factrix).  A 1/2 live, 1/2 studio double CD is in the works, featuring highlights from this tour along with new studio recordings.
