W4UOC - Dunwoody, GA

I first went on the air in 1956 as KN0PDI in Denison, Iowa. I operated with the call K0PDI while in the Army and until I joined DuPont and moved to Winter Park, Florida where I received the call W4UOC. In 1970 I was transferred to Wilmington, DE where I became W3GLS. However, after being transferred to the Atlanta area in 1970 I applied for a change of address and received back my previously held W4UOC call. I have retained that call even though I did spend four years in Wayzata, Minnesota from 1983-1987, before returning back to Dunwoody.

The primary operating station for AM is a Central Electronics 200V and National 183D. For vintage sideband I tend to use the original Collins S-Line (32S-1, 75S-1)

When the going gets ruff the Johnson 500 into a 75 meter horizontal loop seems to work the best. The Collins KWM-2 is great for band hopping to work vintage sideband contacts. I use the Millen tuner at this position.

Across the room is a second vintage station set up with the Collins 75A-1, 32V2 and Drake Line (T4X, R4)

Thanks for stopping by to visit my first attempt at the development of a home page. I plan to expand it as time goes on. My current interest is in restoring older tube type amateur radio equipment.

I hope to meet you on the air or in person sometime in the future.
