Deep Space Station K-7

Here are exclusive, never-before-published photos of the studio model of the Deep Space Station K-7 from DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations" episode. The model was made by longtime Trek modeler, Greg Jein.

The photo below is of Shuttlebay 2 on Deep Space Station K-7. A TOS shuttlecraft (with an NCC K-7 designation) and Cyrano Jones' craft (the Spacematic) are docked in the bay (although not shown in the television episode). Jones' craft had a very "junky" appearance, entirely appropriate to his character's occupation as a "space trader." The shuttlebay interior of the K-7 model, although not shown on television, was beautifully detailed very similarly to the USS Enterprise's shuttlebay (i.e., similar observation decks, signage, doors, etc.). Although not visible in the photo, a "joke" sign was included inside the rear section of the K-7 bay by model-maker Greg Jein. The sign is shown below.

In addition to the K-7 studio model, Greg Jein also made the studio models of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 and the Klingon Battlecruiser for DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations" episode. See
