Man in the Middle
Radio Special with Tom Dooley
Segment 4

| Tom Dooley: You’re listening to the Wayne Watson Radio Special, featuring the songs from his new album, Man in the Middle. Wayne, as a performer, you do a lot of traveling around the country. What are some of your impressions of America? |
Wayne: I love America. I’m thankful to God and to the men and women who fought and gave their lives that we could live in this sort of society. I don’t think they planned it to be this way with the society with the perversions that have developed, but I think they sought a free America. And, I’m thankful for a free America because I’ve been in other parts in the world that weren’t free and you can feel the oppression, and you can feel the demonic infiltration of that whole society. Just in other countries that are very close to the United States you can feel it. I mean when you cross the border you can feel it and certain cities in America where Satanism and where demonic attacks are prevalent, where you feel it more so than in others, where you can feel the evil in certain cities in America, you can get off the airplane and you can feel it. I love being an American. I love being free but the more I study the Word and the more I know God, I have known the Lord for 19 years, and the more I get to know Him, the more I’m convinced that we do not have the right to hate - period. We don’t have the right to hate countries, no matter what they do to us as Americans, or no matter what they do to our fellow Americans, or no matter what they do to us personally. We don’t have the right to hate anybody. We don’t have the right to hate a country, no matter what their political stance. We don’t have the right to hate a religious sect of another belief. Man, in the past two or three years, we’ve seen people in the Middle East who have taken Americans and done despicable things. And, we’ve seen Russians that have done subversive things to us and have shot down planes, and we stir up images of hatred. We stir up feelings of hatred. Even within the church, even within the body of Christ in this country, and I’m sorry, we don’t have that right. We don’t have the right to be militaristic and political before we are obedient to Christ. |
Tom: And on that note, I couldn’t think of a better way to introduce the title song from the album. Listen carefully to the words as Wayne Watson sings about the Man in the Middle. |
|
|
| Wayne: I see this as a very real picture
of where most of us are. I think some people are ready to be saved and
others are going to deny Him to the death. Other people on their death
beds find Christ at the last moment just as this man did and others deny
Him to the last and die without Him. And this song is a cry for all of
us, I think, for people who are lost to come to Christ through this example.
|
| Tom: Wayne, I think you’ve accomplished
something unique in gospel music. The songs in this album, even though
spiritually based, are very much down to earth. |
| Wayne: I think what’s different about
this album, and the things that I’ve tried to do on records in the past
and with this one, the songs are not vague, the songs are very specific,
the lyrics aren’t so obscure that you have to really hear them 8 or 10
times. I think they very much do stand on their own. |
| Tom: The next song is another Wayne Watson original. It’s called Streets of Gold. |
|
|
Wayne: The presence of Jesus Christ is going to make heaven be heaven....that’s what heaven’s going to be. The bible tells me in the last part of Revelation that there will be streets of gold, there will be gates of pearl, there will be walls of jasper, and all those things. But the fact is that all those things are going to be secondary to the fact of the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s what’s going to make heaven. There won’t be any light there because the light of the glory of God and his Son and the Lamb will be our light. There will be no temple there because God and his Son, Jesus Christ, will be our dwelling place and that’s what’s going to make heaven. |
Tom: We have more songs to listen to and we’ll be right back with the final segment after a short pause. Wayne will be talking about the direction of his ministry. Stay with us; there’s more to come on the Wayne Watson Radio Special.
